Mangaluru: Anti rowdy squad conducts raids, makes arrests - recovers arms, ammunition

Mangaluru, Apr 2: The anti rowdy squad of city (north) division led by Panambur assistant commissioner of police, Rajendra D S, made some arrests and recovered lethal arms and ammunition.

After coming to know that swords have been stored in the house of Sandeep at his residence in fourth block Krishnapura within Suratkal police station limits, a police team led by Panambur police inspector, Navinchandra Jogi, took Sandeep into custody. Three swords were taken into possession from him.

On the basis of information provided by him, his associates, Akash Haradi Udupi and Charanraj alias Channu Farangipet, were taken into custody from Kuthethoor. After coming to know that two country made pistols and ten bullets they had kept illegally with them in the past had been handed over to Rakshit, resident of Kolpe in Dharmasthala under instructions of Satish alias Sachchu, who is currently undergoing imprisonment in Suratkal Keshava Shetty murder case, the assistant commissioner of police, officers and other staff of the anti rowdy squad of city (north) division succeeded in recovering them from the residence of Rakshit at Dharmasthala.

The accused were handed over to Suratkal police station for further action. A case under Indian Arms Act stands registered in Suratkal police station relating to the above recovery. Detailed investigation has been undertaken.

A total of four persons have been arrested in this regard. Three swords and two country made pistols were recovered. The details of arrested accused are Sandeep Devadiga alias Sandeep alias Sandy (29), son of Dinesh Devadiga, 'Matruchaya', fourth block Krishnapura, Katipalla village, Akash (21), son of Ganesh Ganiga, Salekeri House, Brahmavar, Charanraj alias Channu (22), son of Devadas G, Kumudelu, Bhandaramane, Farangipet near Polali arch, Bantwal, and Rakshit Bhandary (30), son of Vasant Bhandary, Kolpe House, Dharmasthala.

The accused were involved with some cases in the past too. Sandeep faces a case of assault in Mulky station while a case of attack and a murder attempt case are pending against Charanraj in Bantwal rural police station. Rakshit has a case relating to assault in Beltangady station against him.

The investigation and raids were conducted under the directions of city police commissioner, T R Suresh, and guidance of city police deputy commissioners, Hanumantharaya and Uma Prashanth, by the anti rowdy squad led by assistant police commissioner, city (north) division, Rajendra D S, by police inspector of the anti rowdy squad,Navinchandra Jogi, Suratkal police inspector, officers and staff of the anti rowdy squad.
