Bengaluru, Apr 2: The police, alerted by the fraud played on the people by QNET company that had got people to invest in it and then cheated in paying back their money, stories about which had recently appeared in a television channel and a daily, have taken into custody eight persons for questioning.

A person named Meghana, who had earlier invested three lac rupees in QNET and then realized that she was taken for a raid, complained to the police. She also laid out a trap for the QNET people. The police raided Cafe Coffee Day at HSRLayout on Sunday April 1 and took into custody eight persons for questioning, the police officials stated.

Meghana, with the intention of teaching a fitting lesson to QNET officials who had remained elusive, called the company on their cellphone, posing herself as an intending investor. The staff of the company had advised her to come to Cafe Coffee Day at H S R Layout at 4 pm on Sunday. Meghana then filed complaint in HSR Layout police station and also attracted their attention towards reports of fraud appearing in a television channel and Kannada daily about the company. A special team of police personnel then raided Cafe Coffee Day and found that 30 persons had assembled for the QNET meeting. All were taken to the police station and questioned. The police came to know that 15 of them had come there to invest money, having been lured by attractive returns promised by the company. They were sent back. A few of the persons were the ones who had invested with the company in the past and lost their money.

Eight persons having close and direct contact with the company are being subjected to interrogation by the police. The police hope to reach to the bottom of the operations of the company, and take into custody the kingpin behind this fraud.
