Mangaluru: Road renaming controversy - St Aloysius College files writ petition

Mangaluru, Apr 3: A release from St Aloysius College in the city stated that it has filed a writ petition at the state high court relating to the dispute over renaming of the road between Catholic Club to Ambedkar Circle via Light House Hill.

It may be recalled that Vijaya Bank Workers Organization has been demanding to name the road as 'Mulky Sundaram Shetty Road' after the legendary former chairman of Vijaya Bank. The organization had claimed sometime back that the high court clarification had vindicated its stand on the subject.

Rector and vice president of St Aloysius College, Fr Dionysius Vaz and principal, Dr Praveen Martis, said in a release that the college will undertake all legal steps needed in the matter. They stated that as the dispute has now been referred to the court, the city corporation has been officially intimated not to take any decision in the matter till legal process is completed and final verdict comes out.
