Mangaluru: Parts of DK district witness torrential rain

Mangaluru, Apr 4: Some parts of Dakshina Kannada (DK) district received a downpour on the evening of Tuesday, April 3. Beltangady taluk received heavy rain accompanied with thunder.

Beltangady, Kanyadi, Ujire and Mundaje experienced heavy rain coupled with thunderstorm. Traffic got disrupted at Kanyadi when a tree fell on an electric pole and rolled onto the road. Due to this, there was interruption in the movement of traffic on Ujire-Dharmasthala road for some time. Once the tree was removed, movement of traffic resumed.

Traffic was disrupted near Neerachilume as well, by a tree that fell across the road. Locals got together and put the tree beside the road to make way for the traffic. Agricultural farmlands were destroyed at Mundaje due to high velocity wind. Power was snapped in some areas as electric poles got uprooted due to the storm.

Areas in and around Madanthyar, Macchina and Uppinangady received moderate rain associated with high velocity wind. Bantwal, Vittal and Punjalakatte received light rain. Weather was cloudy in Sullia, Subrahmanya and Venur.
