Udupi: Annual Manipal Arogya, Dental Card launched

Udupi, Apr 4: Manipal Arogya and Dental Arogya card scheme 2018, a social initiative of Manipal Academy of Higher Education was launched on Wednesday, April 4, at the Dr TMA Pai auditorium here by enrolling the first member.

Sadanand Chathra, chairman and managing partner, Durgamba Motors and former governor Rotary International launching the scheme. Speaking on the occasion he said, “The unique features of the card has made it widely acceptable. And the scheme has turned young adult of 18 years. Such schemes create more awareness among the society and helps people to reduce their medical bills,” he added.



Announcing the Manipal Arogya Card scheme, Dr H S Ballal said that Manipal Arogya Card is like an umbrella which offers protection at the time of necessity. “It is among the largest non-insurance based and non-governmental healthcare schemes in India. Manipal Arogya Card Scheme has an enrolment of 2,54,934 members (lives covered) during the year 2017. We are planning to cover more than four lakh members this year.

“The members are spread over about 10 districts in Karnataka like Shivamogga, Davangere, Chitradurga, Uttara Kannada, Haveri, Bellary, Haveri, Chikkamagaluru, Udupi, Mangaluru, North Kerala including Kannur and Kasargod and also Goa. The main benefits of Manipal Arogya Card benefits include 50% concession on OPD Consultation fee, 25% concession on the IP excluding consumables and 30% concession on Diagnostics and it is valid in Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, KMC Hospitals Attavar Mangaluru, KMC Hospitals, Ambedkar Circle, Dr T M A Pai Hospital Udupi and Dr TMA Pai Rotary Hospital Karkala. Application forms are also available at these hospitals,” added Dr Ballal.

Dr T M A Pai Arogya Sevak Awards 2018 were presented by Dr H Vinod Bhat, vice chancellor, MAHE to George Fernandes MD, St Milagres Souharda Society and N Manjunath, former president, Press Reporters Association, Karnataka for their service in the community in the field of healthcare.

Dr Poornima Baliga, pro vice-chancellor, Manipal University, Dr Pragna Rao, dean, KMC Manipal, C G Muthana, COO Kasturba Hospital Manipal, Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent, Kasturba Hospital Manipal, Dr Unnikrishnan, associate dean KMC Mangaluru, Dr Anand Venugopal, medical superintendent, Saghir Siddiqui, regional head and COO KMC Hospitals Mangaluru were present.
