Website of defence ministry hacked

New Delhi, Apr 6 (PTI): The defence ministry's official website was hacked today and efforts are on to restore it, officials said.

They said there were Chinese characters on the website, indicating that Chinese hackers may be involved in it.

"We are seized of the matter. The National Informatics Centre, which maintains the website, is trying to restore it," a spokesperson in the ministry said.

Another official said Chinese hackers may be involved in defacing the website.

    In a startling revelation, a former BJP IT cell member has claimed that the whole BJP IT cell operates from the BJP head office 24 Ashoka Road, where around 300 people work, 20k Facebook pages and 300 fake news portals who perpetuate the propaganda and add fake content through the fake accounts, which later gets shared through the Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter.

    Mahavir exposed the strategy adopted by BJP IT cell, wherein they create famous fan pages on social media with trending names like ‘I support Indian Army’. 'Indian Army Fan Club' ....nearly 300 pages which has more hit than official site of the 'Indian Army'.
    This is the serious breach in the backdrop of allegation against Facebook exposure for sharing personal data of individuals.
    If Indian Army official website is not full proof from the hackers, how safe is Aadhar details of the citizens of India?

    Anata, are you saying Subramanian Swamy is anti-nationalists'? Just go through TOI of October 31st, Swmay says Aadhar linking is serious threat to NATIONAL SECURITY and he's written personally to PM about this. PM could have used a translator if letter was in English.

    To win elections BJP assures and talks about development, secularism, mudslinging and name calling the opposition and Achhe dins in speeches but in reality after winning the elections BJP reverts to its idealogy of divide and rule, beef and communalism. BJP knows if it talks about its communal agenda during election speech it will not win. Do we need this deceptive govt.????.

    This seems most likely it has been orchestrated by the ruling party for whipping up sentiments. If not, then it only exposes and confirms Modi Sarkar as a Leaking Sarkar and Chowkidar is good for nothing.

    Impact of Modi's digital India.
    By linking every activities to Aadhar, Modi sold own citizen's datas to the foreign countries. Attack after attack on our military base happening and BJP govt brought Pak ISI agents to our army base for inspection. Now Defence ministry website also hacked so what security we have now? India is not secured under Modi govt and BJP is threat to our internal security. I am praying at least let our Nuclear weapon be safe till 2019. Modi hataavo.....Desh bachaavo,
