New Delhi, April 6 (IANS): Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi came from an "oppressive ideology" which could never respect Dalits and B.R. Ambedkar.
"Modiji, the oppressive ideology that you come from can never respect the Dalits and Babasaheb. Some examples of Baba Saheb's respect by BJP/RSS ideology," said Gandhi attaching some defaced and vandalised pictures of Ambedkar's statue.
He also attached Modi's tweet in which he said in Hindi: "The amount of respect our government has given to revered Babasaheb, no other government would have done so much."
Amid simmering Dalit anger across the country over a Supreme Court ruling, Modi had on Wednesday took a dig at the Congress for playing politics in B.R. Ambedkar's name.
Modi said his government gave Ambedkar, one of the main authors of India's Constitution, his rightful place and completed projects in his memory that were ignored by the previous government.
