Chandigarh, April 9 (IANS): Chandigarh and its nearby areas in Punjab and Haryana were lashed by rains on Monday morning with the morning temperature dropping by about two degrees, the weather office said.
The weather turned pleasant following the rainfall, which lasted for around one hour. The sky remained overcast.
"It was quite dark when we were leaving for school today morning. The rain came soon after. It was very pleasant," Jaskaran, a Class 10th student of a private school, told IANS.
On Saturday evening, Chandigarh and surrounding areas were hit by a thunderstorm.
However, the rain could damage the harvested wheat crop in the agricultural fields. Standing crops, ready for harvest, could also have higher moisture content.
The wheat produce has started arriving in grain markets across Punjab and Haryana. Most of the stocks were left in the open to dry.
