Mangaluru: Youth from city dies in accident at Muthathi

Mangaluru, Apr 10: A youth from here drowned in river Kaveri at Muthathi, Malavalli taluk, Mandya district on Monday April 9 afternoon.

The victim identified as Prashanth Shetty (24), was working for a private concern at Bengaluru. Prashanth had arrived at Muthathi along with 13 of his friends to enjoy at this settlement of River Kaveri surrounded by dense forests, which is known for its scenic surroundings.

On arrival on Monday morning by Tempo Traveller vehicle, all the young men ventured into River Kaveri to bathe. Prashanth, it is said, drowned accidentally.

Prashanth's parents were informed and the concerned waited for their arrival till late evening. Police sub inspector, Sridhar, visited the spot and conducted an inquest. A case was registered at Halagur police station.
