Mangaluru: Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil introduces faculty to recent industrial trends

Mangaluru, Apr 12: The inaugural function of Faculty Development Programme, 'Recent Advances In Industrial Practices, RTIP - 2018' was held on April 11 at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, here.

Dr Shashikanth Karinka, Prof and head of department of Mechanical Engineering, NMAMIT, Nitte was the chief guest. The function was presided over by Prof Shivakumar G S, vice principal and head of department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Dr Shashikanth Karinka, in his address, mentioned that this kind of faculty development programme is needed to upgrade the knowledge of the faculty who teach students to build a bridge between them and modern technolgy. He also mentioned that the present teaching methods and syllabus have to be updated to diminish the gap between textbook content and modern technology.



Prof Shivakumar G S, congratulated the members of RTIP - 2018 programme and also quoted that faculty must undergo the training programme on modern technology before beginning their carrier as lecturer, so that faculty can teach students the latest technical trends. Dr C G Ramachandra, HOD of Marine Engineering, convenor of the RTIP - 2018 briefed about the three day programmes and mentioned that arround 72 participants from various colleges across the country have registered for the progamme.

The programme was welcomed by Chandra Jogi, assistant professor Mechanical Department and vote of thanks was delivered by Nithin Joshuva, assistant professor Mechanical Department.

Vivek Vijay, assistant professor Marine Department and Renston Fernades, assistant professor Marine Department were masters of ceremony.
