Thanks to Mangaluru cop, pregnant woman gives birth in police car

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (DC)

Mangaluru, Apr 12: There are several stories of women who had to give birth in transit after they were unable to make it to the hospital in time.

In one of the rarest incidents, a Mangaluru woman gave birth to her baby in a police car. The pregnant woman was helped through by a head constable Ravi Kumar, attached to Mangaluru Rural police station.

The family of pregnant woman had hired an auto-rickshaw to go to hospital since she had developed labour pain. Ravi Kumar, who was returning after dropping his children to school, seeing the family stuck in the middle of the road feeling awkward to travel in the auto-rickshaw near Yekkuru, asked them to shift to his car. The pregnant woman however delivered a baby when they reached Pumpwell Circle.

Ravi Kumar narrating the incident to Daijiworld said, "When I was returning after dropping my children to school, I found the pregnant woman along with her family. Since they were not comfortable to travel in the auto-rickshaw, I took them in my car and headed towards Fr Muller’s Hospital. When we reached Pumpwell Circle, I heard a baby crying in the car and the woman had delivered the child,"

He further said that religion does not matter to him, the humanity does. He made this statement after he was being thanked by many people in the social media for helping a Muslim woman.

The family of the pregnant woman was extremely grateful to the cop and even came forward to clean the car.

Ravi Kumar said that the woman and the baby are doing well at the hospital..

I was taken to hospital in a layland truck at midnight when I started my labour pain for my first child. I still wonder how I got climbed on that truck. I still cannot believe myself. That was the emergency!

Hats off to Ravi Kumar. A Great gesture and help at right time. Thankful to him.
We humans need to have humility, love and concern for other human beings irrespective of caste, creed and religion. We need to be humans first. This is a class example for nobility.
Let all of us love one another for the very reason that we are all passersby. Life is journey. We are not to live for hundreds of years. Let us live according to our faith but above all, we are from the same Nation. This division, classification, reservations are done by few who are after wealth and power.
We need to make a new beginning and need to build our nation. We need to love the nature and people around us and help one another. This is very basic and essential to create a better tomorrow for our kith and kin. Applause to Ravi Kumar once again.

Respected Mr Ravi Kumar...You are role model to all especially to Police Dept...People hesitate to take injured patients to hospital if they come across accident spot ,because they think that car becomes dirty and to be cleaned afterwards...you taught every one humanity lesson...I felt very sorry and sad in the morning after reading UP cops brutality on rape victims father...this news from Mangaluru gave me little relief....Thank you.

If there is any HINDU religion existing - it is in this man and many like him. This is the type of neighbourhood we grew up in and we never knew what religion had to do with our lives. I do come from a POLICE family and i had learnt a lot from my grandfather about the protection and security we need to give to our beloved people irrespective of caste and religion. Ravi Kumar is a great binding force and an example of humanity. God bless. Ravi Kumar deserves to be rewarded for his kind heartedness.
