Mangaluru: MRPL commissions largest solar project of 6.063 MWp in refinery site

Mangaluru, Apr 13: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) has successfully commissioned largest solar power project in a refinery site in India.

The solar power project with a total capacity of 6.063 MWp is spread across 34 roof tops within the refinery premises comprising both RCC and sloping sheet steel roofs.

Built at a cost of Rs 27 crore by M/s Tata Power Solar Systems Limited, these solar plants generate more than 24,000 units per day amounting to more than 8.8 million units per annum. This is resulting in an annual savings of approximately 2680 metric ton of oil Equivalent (MTOE) and reduction in CO2 emissions of 7000 tons.

This is a part of MRPL’s commitment to sustainable development with a focus on reduction of carbon emissions and renewable energy generation.
