Christian missionaries behind vandalisation of Ambedkar's statues: BJP Ballia MP

Ballia, Apr 15 (PTI): A BJP MP has alleged that Christian missionaries were behind the vandalisation of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar's statues.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday at a programme held to mark the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar, BJP MP from Ballia Bharat Singh said, "It is at the behest of the Christian missionaries that the statues of Babasaheb Ambedkar are being damaged and vandalised. The missionaries are also financing the people who are indulging in damaging and vandalising the statues of Babasaheb."

Mounting an attack on the Christian missionaries, Singh said, "The Christian missionaries are unable to accept the surge of the BJP under the leadership of BJP chief Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi."

He alleged that the missionaries are also involved in the large-scale religious conversion of Hindus through financial support to them.

Reacting to Singh's statement, senior SP leader Ramashankar Vidyarthi said, "The BJP is simply trying to mislead the people of this country in the name of Ambedkar."

If you tell that these missionaries did that work vandalize the Ambedkar's Statue you are wrong and you will get the punishment from God Almighty. Christian missionaries have done more for Indians, especially in rural areas, than Hindus -- that is a fact. Education and health care have been provided almost free even in remote villages with no hidden motive. The BJP government cannot stomach the good work done by Christian missionaries. The best colleges and hospitals in India are still run by Christians. What can the BJP be proud of? Godhra? Violence in Orissa? Church attacks in Mangaluru? Most BJP members are illiterate scoundrels who are hellbent on destroying the country. Indians need to take control and ensure that Modi and his minions are sent out into the sea for good!

Christianity 2.3% (1951) 2.44% (1961) 2.60% (1971) 2.44%(1981)
2.32%(1991) 2.34%(2001) 2.30%(2011)

If there were mass conversions would it not be captured in the census data. In fact we have negative growth of 0.04% in 10 years. Even if birth and death rate were to cancel out each other the religion has hardly grown. It’s maintained a statuesquo.
