Udupi: SVEEP committee raises voting awareness at Malpe beach

Udupi, Apr 16: The district SVEEP committee on Sunday, April 16 organised a voting awareness campaign through sand sculpture of Vidhana Sabha at Malpe beach.

The sand art designed by Manipal Sandheart artists Srinath Manipal, Raghavendra Amin, Ravi Hirebettu and Chandappa Ammunje created awareness of voting for thousands of people, including youth at beach.

The display panels raised awareness about voting awareness around the sand sculpture, with a sand art, about 8 feet in height and 15 feet width, with a hand holding a message of voting right.



There were voting messages boards planted around the sculpture.

Speaking on the occasion, district SVEEP committee chairman and chief executive officer Shivananda Kapasi said that the awareness programme was organized by the district SVEEP committee and also informed that the Election Commission of India has introduced a new VVPAT machine. “The committee has been providing information through demonstration of VVPAT machine in public places. Everyone should cast their vote without being influenced by any type of pressure,” he said.

Kundapur district education officer Ashok Kamath demonstrated the use of VVPAT machine. A fascinating magic show was performed by magician Prof Pangala Shenoy.

Deputy director of Urban Empowerment and Sports department Dr Roshan Kumar Shetty, education officer Nagaraj and others were present.
