Fast track cases of rapes of minors: Rahul Gandhi to PM Narendra Modi

New Delhi, Apr 16 (PTI): Amid public outrage over Kathua and Unnao rape cases, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fast track cases of rapes of minors and punish the guilty if he was serious about providing justice to the country's daughters.

Gandhi pointed out that there were as many as 19,675 cases of rapes of minor children in 2016, terming them as "shameful".

"There were 19,675 rapes of minor children reported in 2016. This is shameful. PM should fast track these cases and punish the guilty if he is serious about providing justice for our daughters," Gandhi said on Twitter, using the hashtag 'SpeakUp'.

His remarks come days after the prime minister said that the guilty in the Kathua and Unnao incidents would not be spared and the country's daughters will get justice.

Expressing anguish over the two incidents which have triggered widespread outrage, the prime minister had said such crimes challenge the very concept of social justice "and as a society and a country we all are ashamed of it."

"I want to assure the nation that no criminal will be spared. Justice will be done. Our daughters will get justice. We all will have to work together to end this internal evil," he had said at an event last week.

In Kathua, an eight-year-old girl was gangraped and murdered while in Unnao, a 17-year-old has accused a BJP MLA of raping her.

What a twisted logic! Government, or Parliament for that matter, cannot interfere with the course of justice under the constitution which RaGa is campaigning to uphold to ensure that reservation to Dalits is not compromised by the BJP. Fast tracking of cases, giving super priority to rape and murder cases, can only be achieved by doubling the judiciary or establishing special courts under the supervision of the High Courts and Supreme Court. A special law is needed to do that but with the RaGa party disrupting Parliament for all kinds of reasons, this is a far fetched possibility ... to add, it is a propaganda gimmick.

Now Mr. Modi is busy with States forthcoming election campaign and preparing any left out charges against congress. Four years have gone by promissing right action on the rapists. Just check out how UP incident remained in the dark until Republic TV exposed the matter to the public. Who is at fault, alleged MLA, Yogi, Police department or Mod's admininistration ???,

Rapist should be hanged that will be the ultimate punishment for rapists.
Talking about fast track of rape cases could have implemented many years back but unfortunately the then ruling parties never bothered to introduce it when they where in power for so many years in the parliament now they realized it is very difficult for them to win as a single largest party and come to power by their own they have to join hands with so many 30 to 40 parties or may be more to defeat BJP.
RaGa himself has a rape case against him which was never filed by the cops as well as he has affair with one of the women MP from Karnataka and has a live child.Who nobody knows.
When Congress was in power there where so many rape cases... even in Karnataka there are several rape cases where congress is in power just google it or check governments portal or Wikipedia politicians make only few rape cases for their benifit to come to power not only one party all the parties.
So it is better to fight for each and every one who gets raped and get attacked by acid and get molestec there is no caste no religion for these mental physcho path people need to hang them even for acid throwers should be punished same as the deceased suffers all her or his life same pain the culprits should get.
