Bhubaneshwar, Sep 1:
Claiming that the situation in Kandhamal and elsewhere in Orissa was well under control, the state government on Monday said at least 558 houses and 17 places of worship were burnt in communal riots after VHP leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati's killing on August 23.

While 543 houses were burnt in the worst hit Kandhamal district, 15 houses had been set ablaze in Gajapati district, said Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy after a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

All the torching of places of worship were reported from Kandhamal district where over 185 people were arrested on charge of rioting, arson and other offences. A total of 35 people were injured in the riot in Kandhamal, he said.

Though Tripathy did not mention how may were killed during the riot, official sources on Monday put the figure at 16, with the recovery of two bodies in Kandhamal district.

Besides Kandhamal, Tripathy said, people were provided with food in free kitchen in Rayagada and Gajapati districts. While 12,539 people were fed in 10 relief camps, 783 people got the facilities in two relief camps in Rayagada district.

He said relief camps were located at Chakapada, Raikia, Baliguda, K Nuagaon, Tikabali, Phiringia, Phlbani, Tumudibandha and Daringbadi blocks in Kandhamal district.

Director General of Police Gopal Nanda said besides 12 companies of para-military forces, 24 platoons of Orissa State Armed Police, two sections of Armed Police Reserve forces and two teams of Special Operation Group (SOG) were deployed in Kandhamal.

One fact that all forgot during the Orissa's inhuman violence against the Christians was the Bihar floods. The blood of the innocent cries for justice. So we must look at the Bihar flood also from this perspective. Perhaps God is teaching us a lesson through the floods (in a State where the friends of these hatecrime-perpetrators are ruling) that every act of injustice and unjust violece will be accounted for. When will we learn this?

What Habeeb said is right. Lab testing by the enemies of humanity are making preparations to test their experiment in Mangalore after there successful experiments in gujarath & orissa. It may come any moment. I want to ask you christians what are your strategies to defend yourself? The more you say forgive them the more they will massacre and kill.

Do we have any responsible leader who can guide us? Do you want to bow down in submission to these murderers and offer your necks to be butchered by them in there next experiment as guenea  pigs.

Come on people think about it. What happened in Orissa is definitely going to happen in Mangalore. Christians will be beaten, tortured, burned to death. Houses will be ransacked and burned. Women will be raped and killed, children too won't be spared by these predators, Just like what happened in Orissa. Do you have any strategy to defend yourself when the government is their godfather who will put more fuel to the fire? Please think rationally.

Hello Mr. Chandra, I speak knowingly. The one who spoke in cnn-ibn belongs to your clan. The one who cited the reasons for Mr. Jaiswals inability to visit Kandamal need your 'clans' support for his survival. So there is no wonder in cooking up stories and presenting wrong picture. I speak with first hand knowledge not by watching TV news.

The Orissa Government is the culprit because they are depending on the communcal BJP for their survival. Biju Janata Dal is no more a secular party under Navin Patnaik. Let them hand over the killing of Swami and others to CBI. BJP's hidden agenda was tested in Gujarath. Now they are trying in Orissa. They have succeeded. Very bad days are ahead for minorities in India. Hindu fanatic and communal forces are becoming stronger day by day with thier money, muscle and media power.

Only God can save us. Many Christians are forcibly converted to Hinduism during Orissa voilence, with the offical patronage. Now just see who are doing conversions! Communal forces should be banned in India, then only there will be peace.

All killers and looters should be brought to justice. The think as if they represent all Hindus. I hope even christian missionaries understand Indian social fabric. Hope God will give them enough knowledge that all GODS ARE ONE. and stop them taking advantage of poverty and uneducation of the poor people.
