Mangaluru, Apr 17: Police arrested two inter-state thieves with regard to three robberies which took place recently. The three men were nabbed when police stopped their bike near Periashanti on March 9 and questioned them.

The arrested accused are Elyas(34), resident of Puttan Veetil, Trissur, Kerala and Nelson C V (30), resident of corporation flat No 1-7, Trissur district, Kerala.
They have been sent to judicial custody on April 10. 237 grams jewellery, two motor cycles used for the crimes, toy pistol and knives were recovered from them. Police are on the lookout for the third accused who is at large.

Earlier, a group of three had entered the house of Nagendra Prasad at Dentanaje, Petrame, Dharmastala police station limits on November 28, 2017. They had entered the house of Shivakumar Putturaya, Kedila, Puttur on December 22, 2017 and decamped with 144 gram gold and ATM cards. The group also entered the house of Narayana Pillai, Ichlampadi, Uppinangadi on March 21 and robbed.

While the suspected robber who took part in the robberies at Patrame and Kedila is absconding, the arrested are said to be involved in the Ichlampadi incident. They had arrived in the guise of repairing mixers at Kedila and conducted a robbery later.

They identified large houses in the other two instances and entered at night. They used toy pistols and knives to threaten the house members, used plaster to tie their legs and tape their mouths in every robbery. They are said to be experts in instant entry and exit after their mission.

The accused never used mobiles while committing their crime, instead they removed the sim from the stolen mobiles to derail police investigations. They had removed the sim from two mobiles robbed from the house at Patrame and maked them look like newly bought mobiles. They left one of the new mobiles in Sirsi bus and threw the other in a bus going to Tamil Nadu to mislead police investigations. People living in rural areas were afraid after these incidents.

The three robberies were conducted without leaving clues in complex ways. However, Dakshina Kannada SP Dr Ravikanthe Gowda visited the spots and formed a separate team to nab the thieves.

Staff Harischandra, Pravin Rai, Irshad and Jagadish arrested the accused under the leadership of Uppinangadi police station SI Nandakumar. Dakshina Kannada SP Dr Ravi Kanthe Gowda, SP Sajith Kumar, DySP Srinivas and Puttur rural inspector Gopal Naika provided guidance.
