PM Narendra Modi has destroyed the banking system: Rahul Gandhi on cash crunch

New Delhi, Apr 17 (ET): Criticising government for the recent cash crunch across the country, Congress president Rahul Gandhi today said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has destroyed the banking system by ushering in "acchhe din" for fugitive businessman like Nirav Modi.

Congress president also hits out at the Prime Minister for his silence over the recent scams.

"Modi ji has destroyed the banking system. Nirav Modi fled with Rs 30,000 crore and Prime Minister didn't utter a word," Rahul Gandhi said.

"We were forced to stand in queues as he snatched Rs 500-1,000 notes from our pockets and put in Nirav Modi's pocket," he said.

Rahul said PM Modi is scared of him and is running away from debates on different issues that are bugging the country.

"Had we been allowed to speak in Parliament on Rafael (jets) issue, Nirav Modi matter, the Prime Minister won't be able to stand," he said.

The Congress President said Modi personally knew Nirav Modi and Choksi and called them by first names "Nirav bhai and Mehul bhai".

"The 'acchhe din' he (the Prime Minister) had promised for the nation have ushered only for 15 persons, including Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi. For the poor of this country, including farmers, labourers and daily-wagers, it is all 'bure din'."

Separately, Congress party also slammed Modi government, and even accused it of deliberately creating a situation of cash crunch in the country.

Demonetisation, empty ATMs, crash in business, failure in employment generation, rampant rape in BJP ruled States, withdrawal of cases by Yogi against himself after becoming the CM, India becoming a laughing stock in governance before the world, are the hallmark of the present Central Govt., rule. GOD please SAVE our country.

Now if Modi, Shah and all BJP ministers go on fast for a week there could be some money collected for this genuine noble cause and can really appreciate thier way of running the country. More development more services to the public harsher and severe the fast. It is worth giving your life to this nation you love the most.

    Flavian,
Many including myself did not approve of Modi becoming PM for reasons they/I know best but since the people of this country wanted him to be PM none of us could stop destiny from happening.
Similarly, you and many others may not approve of Rahul becoming PM for whatever reasons but if the people of this country want him to be PM should the Congress return to power as a coalition then nobody can stop destiny from happening.

Modi-Arun Jaitly economic surgeries have totally undermined the Indian economy, the Banks are going to feel the very critical liquidity crisis, and the loan availability will be less. It will be creating a vicious cycle to a low growth of the economy.
