Udupi: Rally, human chain, mime show held to create awareness on voting

Udupi, Apr 18: Anganwadi workers, Asha activists and members of Stree Shakthi Sangha held a rally, formed human chain and displayed mime show in Kaup under the aegis of district SVEEP committee to create awareness on voting.

More than 400 Anganwadi and Asha activists and members of Stree Shakthi took out a rally beating drums holding placards and panels displaying information about voting from Kaup Veerabhadra temple circle till Laxmi Janardhan temple singing songs provided by the Election Commission. They formed a human chain sending a message asking everybody to exercise their franchise.



District SVEEP committee president and zilla panchayat chief executive Shivananda Kapashi who led oath taking said that the present Election Commission has stressed on moral voting. “Every voter should vote using own discretion without getting influenced by greed, pressure or temptation. Bring to the notice of district administration which is always prepared to help you if there is fear, pressure or any problem. Create awareness among others also about moral voting.

“VVPAT machines are used in the current elections so that you are confirmed about the vote. The working of VVPAT machines are being demonstrated in public places all over the district.

State resource person Ashok Kamath demonstrated the functions of VVPAT machine.

Mime show held for creating awareness about voting was successful. Women’s and Children’s Development department deputy director Gracy Gonsalves, Udupi taluk panchayat executive Mohan Raj and district news officer Rohini K were present.

Taluk infant development planning officer Veena welcomed, PDO Mahesh compered the programme. Pramila coordinated.
