Orissa Violence: Archbishop Moves SC Seeking CBI Probe

PTI

New Delhi, Sep 2: The Archbishop of Cuttack on Tuesday approached the Supreme Court seeking a CBI probe into the violence against Christians in Orissa.

The Archbishop’s petition has also sought that the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) be asked to conduct a probe to find out which organisation was behind the Kandhamal violence.

Senior Advocate Collin Gonsalves informed about the filing of the petition to a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan which agreed to hear the matter later in the day.

The petitioner claimed that the Rapid Action Force has been deployed only in the cities and it has to be moved to the rural areas which have borne the maximum brunt of the unrest.

The petition also sought a compensation of Rs four lakh each for those whose property and houses were destroyed in the violence.

If you have ability or common sense to review history name any of those Hindu Kings who invaded neighbour countries. Means they were happy on that what they had.

I can name many Like Mohemmed Ghori,Thugluk,Ghajni,Babar and Alexander,Columbus etc.. India facing threat today because of those invasions and their well wishers still here.

The British did not want to grant independence to India because they did not trust upper caste Hindus to be fair to religious minorities and lower castes. Sixty years of the history of Independent India have proved the British right.

Mr. Venu Bhandary, you should remember that most the people who fund for VHP, RSS, Bajrang Dal etc are hailing in US & UK and have completely western life style totally away from the Indian culture. Try to mend them first. Back home, atleast 30% indian hindu families have a western life style bcoz they are working for US companies. First put off the fire in your home then try to save others homes.

Still there are people who need British or USA on rule.Dont forget someone like Mahatma Gandhi or a Shivaji will born to make India independent. We also see people around us who has british life style.Until then if they maintained their area upto their home it will not create problem.when they tried to expand their area then RSS ,VHP or Bhajrangdal will interfere to set a boundary. But pittiest thing is that some innocents also crush in between.

Today judiciary is the last resort in this country to get justice. The efficiency of administration depends upon the 'willingnes' of the politicians to be on the side of the truth and justice. If the State govt. of Orissa is playing in the hands of saffrons the only option for the Christians in Orissa is to approach the judiciary.

That what the archbishop has done now. The judiciary should direct the responsible govt. to entrust the case to CBI so that the truth comes out and guilty is brought to the book

I feel best solution for this problem is with USA and EU putting VHP, Bajrangdal and the likes in Terrorist Organisation listing. Only then they will be made to understand, what they are.

The petition of the Archbishop of Cuttack is timely and after exhausting all avenues for justice and the total failure of the state administration, the only hope left was knocking the doors of the Apex court by a petition to a bench headed by the learned Chief Justice of India K.G.Balakrishnan.

One is reminded of the infamous Best Bakery case during the Gujarath riots and only on the intervention of the Supreme Court the trial in the case was shifted outside Gujarath to Mumbai. During that holocast in 2002,a pregnant Muslim woman (Zaheera Shaikh's sister)was burnt alive .

In Orissa's Kandhamal district a 7 Month's Pregnant, Kamalini Naik Cut into Pieces for Her Faith.Mrs. Kamalini Naik's husband was asked to become a Hindu for which the fanatics threatened to kill his mother. Seeing his mother under their grip Mr. Naik denounced his faith. Then they called his wife Kamalini Naik who was 7 months pregnant. She strongly stood for her faith in Christ and immediately the fanatics cut her into pieces and her one and half year son in front of her husband and other Christians.

Such is the horror of the riots and only a CBI enquiry and trial of the criminals outside Orissa will bring justice to the victims of this massacre under the regime of the BJD/BJP coalition.

In Mangalore and Udupi a party of live music a woman with a short miniskirt, tourist on a beach with swimwear not allowed by bajrang, a young couple in a restaurant while having their lunch dragged out beaten handed over to police by these uncivilized person.

Constitution does not permit such thing but how the local authorities allow? They have their own law in their hand? Did they forget Mahatma our nation’s father gave us independence? Catholics Christians in this world are known masters of peace and non violence is their agenda. That is what the religion teaches.

Christian Missionaries they leave their family behind and go away from their homes to care and feed the poor clean the wounds of lepers share their pain never would kill instead give life. VHP may be the cause for all this that incite hatred amongst the communities. Let the international court of justice decide this by taking it as an international human rights issue.

It is unfortunate. In a country where thousands gave their lives to preserve the integrity and secular status we have to knock the doors of the courts and investigation agencies to find out justice. The state and the power in the land is not in tune with the values of our forefathers.

Only Prayers and devine help can be sought by the citizens of this great land which the whole world thinks is tolerable and civilized.

The terrorists who killed so many innocent people, torched 558 houses and 17 Churches should not be left unpunished. CBI and NHRC probe will only ensure justice to the victims. Supreme Court should give the CBI time limit to submit their report if not this might drag on for ever, giving the culprits to roam around to create more agony and pain.
