Karkala, Apr 19: Congress activists had held protests in front of Hebri Congress office urging that Muniyalu Udayakumar Shetty who was aspiring to be party candidate be issued a ticket.
A police case was registered at Hebri police station against one of the protesters there who attempted suicide.
Padubidri Kanchinadka resident Asif had tried to kill himself. Police connected with the case have written that the activist poured kerosene on himself and tried to commit suicide to incite party activists present there.
It is described in the case that the protests were held alleging conspiracy by former chief minister M Veerappa Moily to make former MLA H Gopala Bhandary get the ticket.
