Bangalore: Investments from USA Will Pour Into State soon : CM
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Sep 5: During his first interaction with the media on Thursday September 4 after returning from AKKA convention in USA, chief miniser B S Yeddyurappa said, that the state of Illinois is prepared to sign a memorandum of understanding(MOU) with the state government in areas like urban infrastructure, power generation, water treatment and medical tourism. States of Maryland and New York have also evinced similar interest. The MOUs will be finalised after completing formalities as required, with the central government, he said.

The CM said, that the state of Georgia has expressed intrest in examining a state government proposal to set up trade office in Bangalore. Several non-resident Indians too have promised to invest in the state. He also had discussions with some members of the Indo-amaerican Chamber of Commerce in Atlanta about the investment environment here, he revealed.

Hi jeevan thanks a lot for your comments. Appreciate it. I think you need to take some english classes. There is a vast difference between "Are you a Hindu?" and "if you are from India then you SHOULD be a Hindu".

One more thing I dont look like a hindu by any chance. I just wanna know one thing from all you guys... what are you trying to prove by saying that India is a Hindu Country. Did God come in your dreams and tell you. If you say that Hindus were living there for many many years. Then mind you, christians came to USA long long back same like the Hindus in INDIA.

Names of the countries have nothing to do with it. If you guys say US is a country with equal opportunity for everybody why always christians are nominated to be the president of this country...why dont you Hindus try to enter this field then you guys can also declare that US is a Hindu country...lol

It perplexes me on one side when BJP bashes USA on various issues, notably on the nuclear deal and on the other hand BJP CM from Karnataka with a large team visits US seeking investments and claims Rs.400,000 crore will be forthcoming ! I would have thought he would go to China, Austria, New Zealand and Ireland with the blessings of CPI (M) for financial assistance who opposed the nuclear deal Strange all of this political business wheeling-dealing !!

Rexon - I think you went on a tangent or you did not understand what Dr. Shetty had to state. All he said was that USA is not a christian country. He did not give any stats. India is a hindu nation or hindu rastra, remember the context of hindu here is a region and not a religion. I am sure you have heard of it being referred to hindustan as well. Next, why are you trying to use USA/UK to flex your muscle. This is a debate and the hidden topic is "conversion". I do not see any one here support the situation in orissa. It is damned. Last, if you are surprised or worried that the american asked if you were a hindu, then you need to look in the mirror. Remember you converted your religion, not your skin color or features. I am sorry to say that but I think you went below the belt on ones choice on where he chooses to live

I went through most of the comments posted here. The one that drew my attention was from Dr. Shetty. In India the majority are Hindus (abt 80.5%) and christians (2.3%) and this has made the majority think that they can do whatever they want and there is no one to question.

So based on this they say that its a Hindu Country. The same thing even applies to USA cause about 80% are Christians, 0.6% muslims and other are unspecified because of the low number. Dr. Shetty proudly declares he is a Citizen of USA and he has no idea how many people in US are atheists. Even when you talk to Americans here if u tell them thatyou are from India, the first thing they ask you is then you should be a Hindu. What makes them pose this question? and u say there is no state religion here. Just reflect on it. Also no country invests on religion they only invest on emerging economies. Finally if you hve so much love for your mother nation why have you been an American Citizen?

Although BJP is against Christians and other religions still they made a chief minister who loves to visit christian majority country and asked their help for urban infrastructure, power generation, water treatment and medical tourism. Now at least you tell your party people, do not create problems to christians or other religions in India and you become the leader of this party to create peace to all religions, As Dr shetty says America is not a christian country likewise india is also not a hindu country, then why the ORISSA INCIDENT TOOK PLACE?

After going through all the comments, I feel sad to realize that almost all of us think in terms of religion and politics for whatever happens. We live in a world of grudge and hate regardless our relegion or social standing. If we were the true followers of our relegion, then none of us will behave as we do today. Summing up, we identify ourselves with some relegion but forget the essence of it. Jai Hind

I totally agree Dr. Shetty. I had posted on the "hinduism" topic by Mr. Bharat the same information. The christians would like to have it a christian country, but the US constitution is not. I think the Pastor has to check the sources of his information before preaching. Plus what has chief ministers claim of investments from NRI's got to do with hindu temples.

Folks! let me make one thing clear. USA , which I am a citizen of, is not a 'Christian country'! There is no state religion here. Americans invest in emerging economies based on their growth potential and not religion. Many of my American friends are atheists or agnostics. The US does not mix religion and economics. It is a merit based society.

They wouldn't be investing so heavily in China if it were not the case. The US is also very neutral when it comes to immigration. It does not favor people of one religion or the other. If you are qualified, you are let in. The fraction of brahmins in the Indian population here is disproportionately high!

Dear Mr. Baliga, You can find a country to stay, but to die it is not in my/your/ hand. It is the the god who decides where you die. You and me or some on else may live in a place where we like but death can come to us in any unpleasnt circumstances. Let us not fell into the web cast by political spiders. I studied in a very famous christain school and still have my classmates as my friends We never discused about our religion during our schooling. We were all one and still one. So please do not loose your humanity into these petty politicans. Raise to the occasions and raise above the silly politial divides

I wonder how far this is going to materialise, when the US itself is in financial doldrums. Housing mortgage crises, sub-prime crises, credit card default crises, tornado crises, election crises, you name it they have it and I think Mr Yeddi is planning to import some of it to India.

Why do we need their money when the member of BJP Corp. can cough off twice that amount (ill gotten though)and take 50% RONW.

Mr. Chief Minister, please do not take anything for granted. We have a strong lobby and far more open commuincation in US than in Karnataka. Governers, adminstration personnel, and cncerned agencies are held accountable for thier managment actions and statements. The activities in last few years in Karnataka, Orissa, and Gujarat against Christian commnuinty and people are not in line with principles of governance and sound ethical admisntartive processes.

It is our responsibity to forward specific actions and in many instances silence on violence related activities / hatered comments from you and your Mininsters in Karntaka and other places, to the concerned state Governers in Illions, Newyork, Maryland, and Georgia and their business promotion boards, along with Indo-American Chamber of Commerce boards to further evalaute and justify based on nature of possible risks involved and human rights treatment before finalizing MOUs and committing funds.

It is a two way street and let us learn to help each other in a positive way. Please advise your minsiters and party supporters to refrain from violence, hatered comments and related activties that impacts people and their livehood. We humbly request you to take appropraite actions to protect people which is the key responsibity of anyone who is elected to govern people. Do your best to minimize,if possible eliminate where possible, all the haterdness and supporting vandalism activties in Karnataka. It is the key responsbility of the state adminstration to protect people and their rights.

Let us not divide and create further frustations and anger from innocent people who are trying very hard to live and survive in present tough economical conditions and at times just cannot bear any aditional stress and frustations. Please let us know how we can help you and your ministers to govern and fulfil needs of the people who elected you and your ministers.

Mr. Yeddi, you are interested in enmassing US dollars from a Christian country but you want to destroy Christianity in India. You are a big hypocrite. You have ordered Churches which are not registered and registerd prayer halls to be locked but not hindu temples. Your days are numbered and you are unfit to be the CM of Karnataka. You are a CM for BJP only. Stop doing harms to Christians.

You will never survuve. I am telling this with experience. Christianity will grow in India, inspite of your hatredness towards Christians. We need Congress to rule Karnataka and India. They faught for independence and not BJP. We love Hindus and they are good people. You and VHP and RSS etc. spoil the name of Hindus Pastor E. W. Frank

Wow ! Very tall statement from the CM !! Very nice, but apart from "prepared to sign a MOU" / "evinced interest" / "will be finalised" / "expressed interest in proposal" / "promised to invest", has nothing realistic been concluded ? Talking of which on foreign jaunts of our beloved politicians, their cronies and cronies assistants at tax payers expense reminds me of an old RK Raxman cartoon in which a minister from Mumbai who wishes to attend a function in Chennai takes the flight from Mumbai with stopovers in London-New York-San Francisco-Tokyo-HongKong- Singapore before landing in Chennai !!! Jai Hind !!!!
