Mangaluru, Apr 30: Relating to the accident that occurred on the morning of Sunday, April 29, in which a bike rider lost his life, police have registered a case against the concerned officials of National Highways Authority and also the contractor who is doing the Pumpwell flyover work in addition to the truck driver who collided against the bike.

In the complaint, it is accused that "Officials of the National Highway Authority and the concerned contractor have not made any arrangements for the smooth passage of vehicles and thereby have committed negligence in their work."

Work progressing at snail's pace

Work related to the construction of an underpass on NH66 near Sri Mahakali temple on Pumpwell - Yekkur road, which is a long-standing demand of public, has begun in February 2017. In order to avoid any obstruction to traffic during the said work, service roads were constructed on either side from Pumpwell to Ujjodi. However, the quality of work done is of very poor standard, as per the complaints from the public.

There is someone called Pumpwell. Another one called Kateel. These are disgrace as they didnot protest the pathetic situation of Pumpwell and thokkottu flyovers. Busy vomiting venom. Sorry, we are illiterate as we chose 10th STD to be our MP. Educated Mangaloreans? Our representative in the Nation to defend us at Parliament and make laws is one with 10th STD? He is busy setting the district on fire, may be.

Nanthoor cross and Pumpweel circle/ I travel to Kerala often and both junctions are nightmares for me. Unless the efficient traffic signal system is established here there will be accidents. I am feeling sad about the same, May there be better management of traffic in Mangaluru

Citizens have to block highway for a day or two from Thokkottu till Nantoor. And not allow even a single vehicle to pass apart from Ambulance. Only then politicians will feel the heat. Else it will take another 10 years to complete flyovers of thokkottu and pumpwell

Modi led BJP is speak development. They could not get even this busy highway which is in the same shape since the time Modi became the PM. This is just a mirror of development what Modi speaks.

It is unfortunate that lives are lost because of careless nature of contractors.

So how many more will perish due to negligence. I have seen traffic cops also are ive about traffic offenders. They don't do anything about buses jamming the city roads, they don't do anything about rowdy auto drivers, they don't react about errant tippers, they only bother about a two wheeler rider going on a one way, not wearing helmet etc.

I am not saying they shouldn't do it. But why only small offenders. Why not catch big fish.

Moreover no idea who is accountable about the slow work progress of the pumpwell flyover
