PU results: DK, Udupi top; Expert Coaching's Ankitha 3rd highest in science

Bengaluru, Apr 30: The much-awaited pre-university (PU) exam results were declared here on Monday April 30.

The results were announced here by PU board director C Shikha.

As in previous years, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have achieved the top first and second places in the state.

Dakshina Kannada secured a total pecentage of 91.49% and Udupi 90.67%.

Kodagu was placed third with 83.94% while Chikkodi came last with 52.20%.

The overall pass percentage is 59.56%.

Kruti Muttagi of VVS Sardar Patel PU College, Bengaluru, topped the state in science stream with a total of 597, followed by Mohan S L of Masters PU College, Hassan who obtained 595 marks, and Ankitha P of Govinda Dasa PU College, Suratkal who also scored 595. Ankitha is also a student of Expert Coaching Classes.

In commerce, there were two toppers - Amritha of ASE PU College, Bengaluru and Varshini Bhat of Vidyamandir PU College, Malleswaram, both securing 595 marks. The third rank went to Poorvitha of Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru who scored 594.

In arts stream, Indu INDP PU College, Ballari secured the top three ranks, with Swathi S top-scoring with a total of 595 marks, followed by Ramesh S V who scored 593 and Goravara Kavyanjali who scored 588.

A total of 6,85,713 students appeared for the exams out of whom 4,08,421 students cleared. Girls have outperformed the boys.

As many as 68 colleges secured 100 percent results while 118 colleges obtained zero pass percentage.

In science stream, the total pass percentage is 67.48%, arts 45.13% and commerce 63.64%.

Third top scorer in science stream Ankitha secured 100 in physics, chemistry and statistics, 99 in mathematics and Sankrit, and 97 in English. Speaking to reporters, Ankitha said her mantra for success was hardwork combined with smart work. "Also, you need to have confidence in yourself. I had worked hard and was expecting a rank. I am happy that I could do it," he said.

Speaking to daijiworld, her elated father Prasad said, "We are really happy about our daughter's achievement. She worked hard to achieve success and her hardwork has paid off. Her plan is to pursue engineering in a top college.

    Its not benchmark to judge someones creativity and ability.

    Most of the rank students in this area are GSBs or to some extent kota brahmins. Hardly heard of any Poojari or Shetty scoring ranks in SSC/PUC...

    AND THANKS TO CONGRESS GOVERNMENT .

    Our students are busy in doing BCOM or Arts den searching job or going to Gulf for low salary job.....

    What ahppend these students from dk/udupi after 12th ?? I really struggle to understand the severe skill shortage in these two districts in niche skills like AI/ROBOTICS etc ...

    Brother I read your comment properly, but the thing is there was nothing here to talk politically, it's​ about our students. Just congratulations is what was needed to them. Politics is of no use to anyone, I agree bjp has not kept it's promise but Congress is also the same. Will it be ok if someone says that because of siddu over 40 percent students failed in just clearing thier papers, or 118 colleges got zero results.

    First of all, I voted for pramodh madhvara who is a Congress candidate and during pm elections also I voted for jayaprakash Hegde again Congress at that time, so your his your thiers government you can keep it for yourself. I just told please don't bring politics here in puc matters, as politics is useless. Tommorow pm might come and say whatever he what to say, and that Time you can comment politically​ on that, but here don't drag useless politics in students results.
