Mangaluru: Milagres to Rosario Cathedral - ‘March with Rosary’ observed with devotion

Mangaluru May 1: ‘March with Rosary’, a mega spiritual programme, jointly organised by ICYM Central Council and Diocesan Youth Committee was held from Milagres Church to Rosario Cathedral on Tuesday, May 1.

The event was inaugurated by bishop of Mangaluru diocese, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza in the presence of Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu, Fr Tom Uzhunnalil SDB, Fr J B Crasta, Fr Valerian D’Souza, Fr Ronald D’Souza and others.

Later a procession was taken from Milagres Church to Rosario Cathedral.

Rosary recitation was held at Rosario Cathedral grounds where hundreds of devotees participated.

Rosaries were distributed to all.

Special prayers for peace and harmony for the country and the world were conducted.

Fr Tom Uzhunnalil, a SDB priest, who was held captive by terrorists and released later last year, gave a faith testimony.

Diocesan secretary M P Noronha was present among others.

Fr Boniface Pinto preached word of God. Fr Johnson compered.

    These kind of public displays are always valuable for Mangalore as well as rest of India where our secular values can be easily displayed for the public to witness. Prayer is a precious gift for every faith, and therefore let the public watch our prayer recitals and appreciate our faith.

    The pathway from Milagres to Rosario Cathedral is s lovely pathway where our faith can be prominently displayed. If the main road traffic can be either withheld or diverted thru some other route would be more beneficial. We remember, few years ago, while there was a huge Convention on behalf of the Hare Krishna Group, while they performed the procession from Bamlmatta to the Nehru Maidaan, the entire road was cosed for traffic while the procession took place.

    Prsyer recitation is an useful means of displaying our faith, and also show to other religions the way we perform our recital of prayer.
