Beltangady: Horekanike procession held at Sacred Heart Church, Madyanthar

Beltangady, May 2: A Horekanike procession was carried out by the parishioners of Sacred Heart Church, Madyanthar on Tuesday, May 1 to commemorate the church’s post-centenary silver jubilee.

The beautiful celebration to be witnessed by the inhabitants of Madanthyar and around the area where sea of people of different castes, creed, religion, colour, language, statues gathered at the four junctions of Madanthyar, loaded with offerings to honor, and pay homage to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, and His Holy dwelling place.



It was pomp and merry, with thunderous fireworks and dazzling lights, the resounding melodious music of three professional band troops which added the beauty of the whole show. The procession gathered at the main junction of the town, and together with all faithful and people of other religion, Fr Banaventure Nazreth, Vicar Vara gave beginning to this great procession. Along with invited dignitaries proceeded towards the Sacred Heart Church, exhibiting the offerings, accompanied by the Royal umbrellas adding the splendor to the celebration. On reaching the Church all ward people were recognized and outsiders were recognized with greater respect.

Homage for the departed members of parish

In order to pay a great homage for the departed members of the parish and also people those who toiled in the parish on May 1, all the graves were blessed in the cemetery after a mass for the dead was offered for all the diseased members of the parish community. Fr Walter D’Mello presided over the celebration and number of priest and faithful people participated in the event.
