Bengaluru: Congress responds to Modi's 'achhe kapde' comment with hilarious video

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (DC)

Bengaluru, May 2: The Congress on Tuesday May 1 hit back at Prime Minister Modi over his 'ache kapde' remark and posted a couple of pictures and also came up with a video of Modi at some events in the past seen wearing expensive clothes.

Congress' social media and digital communications head Divya Spandana shared the pictures on Twitter and asked whose credit was used to pay for those expensive clothes.

"@narendramodi ji so fancy! I love the Loro Piana jacket on you! Only 17,000 Euros! Very cheap. Who’s credit card was used to pay for this Modi ji? (sic)" she tweeted.

The Congress also shared a video of compilation of pictures where Modi is seen wearing expensive clothes with a caption 'The emperor's new clothes', and the old Hindi song 'Sala Main To Sahab Ban Gaya' playing in the background. The Emperor's New Clothes happens to be the name of a well-known short story about an emperor who was duped with the promise of a golden suit by two conmen.

It may be recalled that Modi during a rally in Chamarajanagar on May 1 had mocked the Congress and said, ""Hum toh achhe kapde bhi nahi pehen sakte (We don't even get to wear good clothes)."

The hillarious reply from the Congress has amused quite a number of netizens with the tweet going viral on social media.

Thank you Mr. Shetty, we will not vote for him. Because educated people in Mangalore certainly knows whom to vote and they do not want Mangalore to be a city in Bihar or UP

Did PM Modi started his speech saying
    Gayeeyo (Bainyo) aur Bainso (Bainno)

just a question, because some people do not understand Hindi and he says something and it means something. For BJP cows and bufallows are important than brothers and sisters. This guy does not care for Kannadigas or humans but he cares only for the record and to fulfil his ego. That is why he can forgive Mr. Gowda, Mr. Reddy and so on who can win for BJP.

Since India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, the only PM whose managed to generate enough buzz with his sartorial choices is Narendra Modi. And, the feat can be credited to Mumbai-based menswear designer Troy Costa.
Make in India PM Modi as the new face of Indian fashion.
In many ways, the world has never seen an Indian Prime Minister like him: One, who flaunts (and makes all of India gush over) his stylish Bvlagri(Made in Italy) spectacles frames, expensive Movado(Made in Switzerland) watch and swanky Mont Blanc(Made in Germany) pens , Range Rover(Made in UK) collection.
The RTI activist had sought the information from PMO to give details about the expenditure done (year wise) on the clothing. For the PM Narendra Modi the information was sought from May 26 2014 till now.
The PMO in the reply has clearly stated that the information sought is personal in nature and does not form part of office records. The PMO office also mentioned that it may be noted that expenditure on personal attire of PM is not borne on government account.

Modi Bhaktha's who have problem CM Siddaramaiah wearing 'Hobalt' watch gifted by his friend but no objection Modi wearing expensive Movado watch.
On the one hand government talks about Make in India, on the other hand it is shutting companies like HMT which has been manufacturing watches in India for the last 53 years. Is it not hypocritical?
Out honourable PM Modi don't mind ditching 'Mahindra' which he was riding as Gujarat CM for German make BMW.
PM Modi who gives sermons on 'Make in India' himself fond of foreign brands. Reality of ' Make in India'.
    Jai Hind

More importantly, he started this with his achhe kapde comment. So, looks like it his cheap mentality of talking about non-issues when there are so many important issues that Indians are waiting for their PM to talk about.

I can understand the privately owned FM radio channels airing political partys' advertisements as it's their bread and butter. But was flabbergasted to listen to Mangaluru Akashavani airing a BJP poll advert, unduly criticizing ruling party as a no achiever, just wondering if this is with in the purview of the so called code of conduct.

    geoffrey, hathill,
Ever since May 2014 we are seeing large sections of the media brazenly and shamelessly singing bhajans in praise of the BJP and Modi Sarkar and scathingly criticizing the Congress and other opposition parties. In my personal opinion this is not just being done for TRPs as 'those' media would like to have us believe but it is because of either a threat (IT raids etc.) or favours being offered or just that some channels are supporters/ideologically inclined. It could be a combination of one or more of these reasons too. If one is a Congress party/Opposition party supporter it is nauseating to even watch/hear/read such reporting . However, such channels/media are biased towards the ruling disposition to varying degrees. Earlier people were reluctant to even comment on this but thanks to social media all this has now been exposed. However many of our voters still do not have the maturity to understand this and others simply don't want to.

Modi and his blind bhakts succeeded from 2012 until 2014 against a sublime Congress which let go his nonsense quotes and quips unchallenged and therefore he was able to lie and fool the public. This time Modi and his chelas are facing a smart congress machine which believes in and eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth...........................Every time he opens his mouth to utter some nonsense, he is getting it back lock stock and barrel. All his no balls are being smacked for sixers. Siddhu is not a person to take things lying down. The congress learnt a valuable lesson in 2014 and that is : The only way to win against a pig is by willing to wrestle with it in the mud and pay it back with its own game...........

Nameless 'Elder', Ramya was defeated by mere margin of 5518 votes. While the winner JDS candidate got 43.95% votes, Ramya polled in 43.49% votes in the last Parliamentary polls in Mandya. In Parliament elections defeat margin of 5518 is considered very narrow margin just like loss by 300-400 votes in Assembly elections. In fact it was your BJP candidate Shivalingaiah who lost the deposit by getting mere 86,000 (7%) votes. Go and spread your lies in Ulta Pradesh, nay Uttar Pradesh, and not in Karnataka.

I wish Kannadigas would take the credit for laying the first stone of BJp 's monument; by make it open to the nation about its Dual Personality Disorder.
