Imphal, May 2 (IANS): Four members of Myanmar's Rohingya Muslim minority were arrested in Manipur's Moreh town, police said on Wednesday.
Tengnoupal district Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Ibomcha on Tuesday night launched a combing operation in the border town after receiving a directive from the union Home Ministry to ensure that the Rohingyas, who face persecution in their homeland, do not enter Manipur.
Ibomcha said that the three men and a woman were staying at a hotel.
"They did not possess identity cards or any other important documents. They will be interrogated on how they entered the town and who their traffickers were," the SP said.
In April, two men and one woman of the Rohingya community were arrested in Moreh.
The police had arrested a human trafficker along with three Rohingya girls in Jiribam district bordering Assam also in April.
They had entered Manipur from Bangladesh via Assam.
