Mangaluru, May 2: Konkani residential camp titled ‘Zavad’ for students of 7th to 10th std was inaugurated here on April 28 by renowned Konkani writer, journalist and social worker city-born philanthropist Austin (Prabhu) D'Souza. The camp will be held at Kalaangann till May 6.
Austin Dsouza called upon the children to make use of the opportunities and work toward developing Konkani.
Another guest on the occasion, social worker and Central minority board member Raymond D’Souza Delhi said that it was indeed a proud feeling to see children who take part in the summer camp shine across the nation and abroad. Some of the children who participated in the camp have also started working with popular musician A R Rehman.
Noted Konkani musician and gurkar of Mandd Sobhann, Eric Ozario elucidated about the camp.
Konkani poet Rony Crasta compered the programme.
The concluding ceremony will be held in the evening of May 6 at Kalangann in Shaktinagar. The children will present a cultural programme including a drama titled 'Amka Ille Aika'.
Children will be trained on dance, singing, theatre, instrumental music, personality development, public speaking and Konkani (including writing in Kannada and Roman script).
