Sullia: Karnataka upholds principle of secularism, not BJP's cup of tea - Moily

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, May 3: President of Congress party's manifesto committee and MP, M Veerappa Moily, said that Karnataka does not fit the BJP's bill. "Karnataka is not a place where communal ideals will thrive. This state has always upheld the principle of secularism. Therefore, BJP is set to face utter defeat here," he predicted.

Moily claimed that the state government led by Siddaramaiah has functioned exceedingly well during the last five years and that it has met the assurances made in the party's manifesto.

Addressing a press conference here, Moily said that based on the groundwork done during the previous five years, Siddaramaiah-led government can safely be expected to achieve overall development of the state during the next five years. "Our government has worked for the welfare of all sections of the society. Former chief minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, says that our government did not provide funds for irrigation. As against Rs 16,000 crore spent by BJP government for irrigation, we provided Rs 56,000 crore. Sadananda Gowda does not know this fact," he said.

He also came down on Sadananda Gowda for saying that he does not know the language in which Congress manifesto has been brought out. "We have released the manifesto both in Kannada and English. I hope Gowda knows these languages. If he is in need of one, I can send a copy to him," he quipped.

Dakshina Kannada district Congress president, Harish Kumar, local block Congress president, Jayaprakash Rai, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary,G A Bava, district campaign committee president, Dhananjay Adpangaya, party candidate from local constituency, Dr Raghu, and others were present.

Karnataka upholds the" IDEA OF INDIA"

The Karnataka Model of Devlopment should become the blue print for the Devlopment of India.

The Fake Gujarat Model of Devlopment should be given a decent burial in Gujarat.
