'Mentally unstable' man attempts suicide outside Rajnath's residence

New Delhi, May 4 (IANS): A 42-year-old mentally unstable man on Friday tried to commit suicide by slashing both his wrists outside Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's residence in central Delhi, police said.

After receiving a call about the attempted suicide, a patrol party reached the spot and noticed the person -- later identified as Raj Kumar -- lying in a semiconscious state on the road outside 17, Akbar Road, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashok Malik said.

Raj Kumar was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where he is said to be out of danger.

"A resident of north Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar, Raj Kumar appears to be mentally unstable and an incoherently written complaint over alleged surveillance on him through satellite and other means was found on his person," Malik said.
