Mangaluru: Rajesh Poojary murder - Muneer Katipalla blames Bava, Nalin for scuttling investigation

Mangaluru, May 6: CPM candidate from city (north), Muneer Katipalla, has accused local MLA, Mohiuddin Bava and Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, of being directly responsible for failure in finding out the culprits involved in the murder of Rajesh Poojary from Bejnajapadavu. He said that both these people's representatives behaved irresponsibly relating to the murder.

Addressing an electioneering meeting of CPM at Badriya Nagar, Mallur on Saturday May 5, Katipalla explained that four years back, after the murder of Bejnapadavu Rajesh Poojary, a Bajrang Dal activist, under pressure from BJP, innocents were arrested instead of real culprits. "CPM and Democratic Youth Federation of India had organized several agitations to press for the release of innocent people and arrest of actual culprits. On account of our pressure, the state government ordered for re-investigation of the case and entrusted it to criminal investigation department, but CID has failed to arrest the real murderers so far," he stated.

Muneer felt that if Mohiuddin Bava and Nalin Kumar had discharged even a fraction of their bounden duties, Rahesh Poojary's family would have got justice. He asked BJP and Congress parties to own responsibility for their failure to show justice to the family of the victim of the said crime. "These two parties ignite frictions between religions for political reasons, which gives rise to murders. Once their goals are achieved, they totally neglect those who gave up their lives for the parties concerned. People should wake up to the selfish motives of these two parties at least now and give them a fitting reply in the election," he exhorted.

Senior farmer leader, Gangayya Ameen, N E Muhammed, Bava Padarangi, Manoj Vamanjoor, B K Imtiaz,' Anand Bangera and others were present at the meeting.
