Mangaluru, May 6: Congress party spokesman, former mayor Mahabala Marla in a statement condemning the recent alleged black magic against MLA J R Lobo has stated that people here elected the herald of development of Mangaluru south constituency, J R Lobo as the MLA. “The development conducted by him during the last five years is commended by the people. His opponents who understood his pro people inclination and could not bear his popularity, have shown their distorted mind due to fear of defeat by resorting to black magic. They have brought people from Kerala and conducted black magic in the crematorium of Nandigudda to spoil the health of Lobo and defeat him. Material related to black magic were found in the crematorium. A wooden voodoo doll resembling the shape of a human, a paper with the name of J R Lobo written in Malayalam, nailed and tied with a red thread were found there. Narendra Nayak, well known rationalist has shown them to the police and the people. The opposition has shown that they do not trust our democratic system, our constitution and our deities.”

“J R Lobo has provided funds for the development of several temples and places of worship in his constituency. He has developed important crematoriums in the city and shown that he is a secular individual. He said that he came to know of the black magic through the help of God. People and well wishers of the Hindu community have met him and expressed support. The Almighty will definitely punish those who face elections adopting such wrong ways. We and the well wishers in the constituency are with you,” he said.

“J R Lobo has visited Polali Rajarajeshwari temple, Mangaladevi, Kadri Manjunatheshwara temple, Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara temple, Sharavu Mahaganapathi temple, Car Street Venkatramana temple and Urva Marigudi temple and prayed to the deities that the Almighty may give prudence to the suspects so that they may not indulge in such things for political or other purposes.”

“As the black magic conducted in the crematorium is illegal, corporator Shailaja has lodged a complaint with election commission and police. Congress party suspects that only the opposition party is involved in it as J R Lobo is a strong candidate against BJP.”
