Doha: Glittering ceremony marks KSQ Vasanthotsava

Doha, May 7: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ), a socio-cultural forum, an associated organization to Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), under the aegis of Embassy of India, celebrated its annual mega event ‘Vasanthotsava’ recently with pomp and gaiety in Delhi Public School auditorium.

‘Vasanthotsava’ witnessed a variety of cultural and entertainment programmes which enthralled the packed audience in the auditorium.

The key attraction of the event was the presence of famous cine star Anant Nag along with his actress wife Gayatri Nag who graced the occasion as special guests of honour.



KSQ members presented a medley dance before the guests from their hit movies which got a rousing applause. Both the stars were felicitated during the public function in which Anant Nag was awarded the title ‘Kalabhinava Ratna’. During the day, they visited Kannada learning children at the free weekly coaching class and appreciated the efforts of KSQ in its efforts to teach Kannada to children.

‘Nenapinangaldalli’, a journey through the memory lanes of star couple Anant Nag and Gayatri Nag was held. This was an interesting interactive session by the anchor as well as public posing questions at the duo. Anant Nag rendered a very popular ‘Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma....” song on demand which received a thunderous applause.

Anant Nag and Gayatri Nag were accorded a traditional welcome at the event. As they lit the lamp to commence to programme, a welcome song was sung by the members. The welcome song was composed by KSQ's cultural secretary Ashwin P Kumar for which H K Madhu had penned the lyrics.

Beat Guru's musical troupe gave a sensational presentation in two segments that made the audience to dance thronging near the stage. Ananya Bhat, a young talented playback singer who is also a Filmfare award winner, kept the audience engaged with hit numbers. She rendered a folk song for which the lady members presented a traditional dance. Another folk form ‘Tiger Dance’ by ATS employees received an outstanding response from the audience.

Shruthi Purushottam, third secretary (Commercial) from the Embassy of India was the chief guest for the event. KSQ president Venkata Rao welcomed the gathering. Ravi Shetty, vice-president rendered the vote of thanks. Arun Ullal who was specially flown from Mangaluru to anchor the event was at his best.
