Mangaluru: Family of slain RTI activist Vinayak Baliga writes open letter to BJP

Mangaluru, May 7: The family members of slain RTI activist Vinayak Baliga have written an open letter to BJP president Amit Shah demanding answers on why BJP has been sidelining Baliga's murder, inspite him being an active BJP member.

Releasing the letter at a press conference at their house on May 7, they said that Vinayak Baliga who was brutally murdered on March 21, 2016 was an active member and the worker of Bharatiya Janata Party. "You have been running campaigns about BJP workers being murdered in Karnataka but my brother’s name has not been mentioned anywhere in your campaign. Why is that your party has not protested about it so far despite him having been an active member of BJP, RSS all his life? Baliga’s sisters Shweta, Usha, Anuradha and Harsha questioned Amit Shah.


The sisters further questioned the BJP:

- Why is it that your local MP Nalin Kumar Kateel or any other office bearers of your party have not visited us even once to express condolences or support for us?

- When we tried to bring this to the attention of your Mahila Morcha Convenor Meenakshi Lekhi, she said it was a local issue. So, is murder only a local issue? But, when we tried to inform the local MP why did he just brush us aside and go away?

- Your party claims to offer great support to women and downtrodden but why no sympathy towards us? We four sisters of Vinayak Baliga and our 88 year old father Ramachandra Baliga, have been struggling for justice for our cruelly murdered brother. How will you help us?

- If your party comes to power in Karnataka, are you going to constitute a special investigation team to probe into our brother’s murder?

- As the president of the BJP what steps will you take to help us? demanded the sisters.

Apart from the family, Raghu Ekkar, convenor of DSS (Prof Krishnappa group) and Narendra Nayak from Rashtrapremi Sanghatanegala Okkuta were present.

    Dear Baliga family members, it is unfortunate to lose a family member that too in the hand of cruel people. It is sad that his people murdered him. It is terrifying to all your own people bitrate you all.
    I think there is no use expecting any good from either BJP or RSS. There might be a few people with the right mentality, but they will be murdered, Mr. Baliga. Time to think all good people who are in BJP or RSS, whether to stay with them and get killed or leave them and their group; live a happy life with family & friends.

    BJP is a Jumla party, but now is time to show the BJP that their Gujju cunningness is no where compared to Karnataka , People of Karnataka are more educated and having brain to identify your Gujjus cunningness . Don't play Hindutva card now, 4 years of your reign you did nothing on Ram mandir, just kept the issue for your politics during elections.
    Looted the common man in 4 years , just waiting for your party to be out of office.
    Instead of governing the country you are busy with foreign tours and election campaign in states. None of the previous PM have done like you. Exploited tax payers money in 4 years. Filled the coffees of BJP party. SC should look into all political party's personal account put it in the relief fund of the center.
    Then our country will be successful. Only educated and clean record persons should be eligible to contest election. All criminals and corrupt people are in politics these days.

    Please respond to the letter written by Baligas sister. Provide justice to that family. Feeling sad to know that death is the sentence for opening up the truth, being in a same party no justice.

    How can we believe and vote you? If you win this case will also be vanished like others. Accused is busy with the campaigning of the party.

    my heart is always with vinayak baliga's family. it is heartening a country like india police department is not doing proper investigation and follow up procedure in the court after pin pointing the culprit. but i also feel regret that family of late vinayakji written letter to person who got already allegation of criminal conspiracy and eliminating the witness in his own legal case. what we can expect from the bjp/or amit shah who openly siding with notorious people. there should be more public awareness in this case and the family should be given support of finance and legal advise.
