Muslims are not idol worshipers, they should not worry about Jinnah portrait: Ramdev

Nalanda, May 9 (Zee News): Noted yoga guru and Patanjali Ayurved founder Baba Ramdev has now joined the ongoing debate over the removal of Muhammad Ali Jinnah's portrait from the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking on the issue in Nalanda, Ramdev said, ''Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, cannot be an ideal for India's integrity and unity.''

Further reacting to the ongoing protests in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) over the removal of Jinnah's portrait, Ramdev said that the Muslims should not worry too much as they do not believe in idol worship.

"Muslims does not believe in idol worship. So, they should not worry about this issue. Jinnah cannot be an ideal for India`s integrity and unity, maybe he is for Pakistan," Ramdev said.

Reactions from Ramdev in the backdrop of protests over demands for removing the portrait of Pakistan's founder from the office of AMU Student Union.

The controversy over Jinnah erupted after the local Bharatiya Janata Party MP Satish Gautam questioned the portrait's presence in the AMU student union office.

Gautam even wrote a letter to the AMU V-C and sought an explanation in this regard.

Several members of the right-wing outfits have since protested, demanding the removal of Jinnah's portrait from the varsity campus.

Meanwhile, a large number of AMU students have also been agitating for the past few days, demanding action against the right-wing protesters, who entered the campus and demanded the removal of Jinnah's portrait from the student union's office.

The ruling BJP also hit out at those who opposed the call to remove Jinnah's portrait in AMU, saying those standing with Jinnah also stood for terrorist Afzal Guru. BJP spokesperson Sudanshu Trivedi said that those who are standing for Pakistan founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah also stood for terrorists like Afzal Guru.

The Aligarh Muslim University deferred the varsity examinations in the wake of the ongoing controversy over a portrait of Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the campus. The exams have reportedly been postponed will May 12.

The AMU Vice-Chancellor issued a notice to the varsity students on Tuesday, saying that a section of media channels are responsible for spreading lies.

Requesting the students to not fall for such information, VC Tariq Mansoor advised them to focus on the examinations.

Accusing a section of television channels, the university authority said, "As you all know, our beloved university is passing through a difficult phase, taking advantage of the present crisis, section of media especially some TV channels, armed with all kinds of half-truths, are constantly trying to create a very negative image of the university."

The statement further added, "Dear students, we should not fall into the trap of some forces, which are bent on destroying the image of our Alma Mater and playing with your bright future."

Meanwhile, another controversy related to Jinnah has now erupted. After the uproar over his portrait in the AMU, now objections have been raised by another Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader to Jinnah House and Jinnah Hall in Mumbai.

Mumbai BJP MLA Prabhat Lodha has demanded that Jinnah House and Jinnah Hall should be converted to cultural centres and that Jinnah’s name must be removed from them. Jinnah House was home of Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Mumbai and the hall was named after the Muslim League leader.

Why are you hell bent to prove that Muslims practice idol worship.

You were even saying that Muslims worship stone in Kaaba in Makkah. Muslims just kiss the Black stone as our Prophet ( pbuh) used to do so. Muslims have faith that this stone is from heaven. But we don't believe that this stone can neither benefit neither cause loss to anyone.

If you say Muslims do idol worship then technically he is not Muslim since Monotheism ( Oneness of the Allah) is core of Islam. Muslim cannot worship anything other than Allah.

My dear CHADDI DOST!!!!!! you must be Grateful to Muhammad Ali Jinnah, for dividing British India into India and Pakistan. If the AKHAND BHARAT was intact, with Pakistan and Bangladesh , with their 395 million combined Muslim population and 172 million Indian Muslim population, today Chaddis "HAALATH " could've been different!!!!!

I do agree with you that they dont worship Idols so what difference if potrait of Jinnah is there or not. But I have one doubt why this selective choices, as in buffet lunch that we choose what suits us Baba Ramdev. Then why uniform civil code when they have their shariah, Why no triple talaq which is permitted as per their religion, why singing vande mathram should be compulsory when it is not permitted in Islam, why stop prayers why not allow them to eat beef when it is allowed in their religion.

It is so easy to say that idol worship is not allowed so it does not matter, then we should allow them to follow and eat and live as they are permitted in their religion.

Baba Ramdev, it is better you stick to your yoga antics and marketing of steriod based ayurvedic items.

Yes Baba Ramdev, we know you are obliged to BJP for supporting you in your multi crore business which was started when you were and ordanary yogi. Where did you get the crores to invest in this business. So we understand that you are obliged and as a good servant obliging your masters.

Mr. Baba Ramdev please stay away from this dirty polictics game which does not suit you as you are a yogi and not a Chanakya to understand it.

You Baba Ramdev, just worry about third class unhealthy noodles.

Don't you know that noodles are totally unhealthy and are cooked and kept in shelves for months and months before it is cooked in kitchen?. You conveniently forget your hate for western products when you sell noodles for business purpose. Is it an Indian food?

You are also spreading fake information and deceiving the common man by writing in your beauty products that dark skin is a skin ailment and can be treated very easily.
If dark skin is a skin ailment then why don't you market your beauty products in African continent?. If you are so sure and make tall claims of your beauty products then why do you use models in the advertisements with heavy make up on their faces? Why can't you use models who used your own beauty products and have turned their black complexion into white?

You just do your business and don't poke your nose and give irrelevant statements.

Chris, By hanging Mecca & Madina Masjid photos on the wall people will not gain/loss anything. They simply hang as its looks beautiful and many people dreamt to visit two holy places. Not even a single Muslim worship those portraits & if they does than they will be the biggest losers forever. I never seen little figurines of hands.
