Udupi, May 9: Congress candidate for constituency of Udupi for the upcoming state election Pramod Madhwaraj undertook a 'Padayathra' to seek the votes of the electorate of Brahmavar on Tuesday, May 8. Prominent leaders and thousands of activists of the party participated in the event.

Slogans supporting Pramod Madhwaraj, Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiah and Congress echoed throughout the rally. The road show started from Brahmavar city centre, passed through national highway, old bus stand, taluk office, market road, Barkur entrance, bypass road and concluded at Brahmavar bus stand.

Pramod Madhwaraj addressing his supporters said, “Looking at my work of five years and the development of Congress government, I am confident that people will re-elect me in the coming assembly elections. Given me a chance again, and I will serve people again. I will not tell that I have fulfilled all the promises made in the previous election, but I have tried my best to fulfill almost all the promises. I have made earnest efforts to get government funds through chief minister and other concerned leaders.

“As promised, we have provided home to the poor, and solved the problem of conventional forest under 94C, 94CC and provided RTC to beneficiaries. To provide 24 hours drinking water for the people of Udupi, Varahi project has been started with budget of Rs 270 crore.

“I have provided electricity to the district with less number of power cuts. There are some plans which will get completed by the next five years. To solve water problems of Brahmavar region, we will execute multi-village scheme at Thenkanidiyoor and Chantharu villages.

“There are 213 booths in Udupi constituency. I have planned to conduct booth level public meeting with the presence of all departmental officials, at least once in a year. I am committed to serve the public with honesty and sincerity,” he said.

District Congress president Janardhan Thonse and local leaders of Brahmavar participated in the rally.

I am of the opinion that we must elect Pramod Madhwaraj and give him one more term. He has done very good work and my vote is for Pramod Madhwaraj and not for Raghupathy Bhat.

Even though, I am a supporter of BJP, first I look at the candidate before casting my vote. Here in comparison Pramod Madhwaraj stands tall in front of Raghupati Bhat in all aspects. Whether it is completing the development work as promised and his skills to get the work done, character, attitude, etc made Pramod to become popular among people of his constituency irrespect of peoples party affiliation.
Every individual has a right to vote for their favourite candidate, some people vote by looking at the candidate and some vote based on their affiliation to the party. My sincere advice to all the voters is, please first check the candidates ability, his development work or skills, his character, how much he can fight for you. Check first, can he go against his own government to fight for you if you have faced any injustice. After checking all this, you caste your vote to the most able candidate keeping aside his party affiliation.
As per my prediction, Pramod will win this election. Because people like me, cast vote looking at the candidate. If he wins then it is a victory for a honest worker.
