Seoul, May 10 (IANS): South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha will meet US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington to prepare for an upcoming summit between the two countries' leaders.
The summit between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and his American counterpart Donald Trump at the White House on May 22 will precede the one between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, reports Efe news.
Kang and Pompeo will discuss the outcome of the recent inter-Korean summit in which all parties agreed to work on the total denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula ahead of the US-South Korea summit, the South Korean Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
The foreign representatives "plan to have in-depth consultations on ways for South Korean and US diplomatic authorities to coordinate for the denuclearisation of North Korea and establishment of peace on the Korean Peninsula through the success of the North Korea-U.S. summit" the ministry added.
The two will hold a joint press conference at the end of their talks.
