BJP rigging EVMs to win elections, alleges Shiv Sena

Bengaluru, May 11 (PTI): The Shiv Sena today accused its estranged ally BJP of rigging EVMs to win elections and claimed that people do not trust the current method of polling anymore.

The recovery of "fake" voter ID cards in Bengaluru show how the electoral process in Karnataka has touched a new low, the Sena said.

The southern state goes to polls tomorrow and the results will be declared on May 15.

"(PM Narendra) Modi talks about 'Congress-mukt Bharat'. But although the Congress is coming to an end, its thoughts are not dying. The BJP is trying to finish the Congress by imbibing the qualities of that party," the Sena said in an editorial in its mouth piece 'Saamana'.

"Ahead of the Karnataka elections, 10,000 fake voter ID cards were recovered from a flat in Bengaluru. The Congress has targeted the BJP on the issue. This voter ID scam shows that the Karnataka election has touched a new low," the party said.

"A large sum of money is being used in the elections. From where the BJP gets so much money is no more a secret as everyone knows the truth.

"Money starts flowing ahead of any election, be it gram panchayat or Lok Sabha...It seems as if notes are being printed by 'Mudra Bank' in every house...The Congress used to indulge in this, which the BJP is now doing," the Sena alleged.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of copying his party's manifesto in the Karnataka polls, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party said.

"In short, the BJP has adopted the Congress' policy of winning elections by hook or crook. The Congress must be feeling proud that the BJP is taking its ideology forward," it said.

The Sena alleged that the Congress had also indulged in malpractices during its rule.

"When former prime minister Indira Gandhi won a massive mandate, the late Sena supremo (Bal Thackeray) had questioned her win, saying it was not the victory of 'bai' (Indira), but that of 'shai' (ink)," it said.

"The ink rule is now over, but the BJP is rigging EVMs to win elections. People don't trust the current method of polling any more," it said.

"Only the masks of those sitting in power have changed, but the faces behind these masks are the same. The BJP has not defeated the Congress, but has merged it within itself," the Sena alleged.

EVM is a modern way of voting instead of paper ballots..... We have seen in how these printed ballots are mis-used by political parites from 1960 to 1980's ... Bundles of ballots are snatched from the booth by goons and they manully put vote threatening the voters on que... This is highly sponsored by then ruling paries in INDIA. Election commission has given assurance and gurarantee for these EVM's and tested by some honourable courts thru technical people..

Why people use ATM's , Cr/Db CARDS, Digital payments etc now ? Why you wont complaint on these machines where YOUR MONEY is transacted ? Money is hacked by our own ignorance and CARD usage methods,... When technology improves MAN has more secured and planned life.... For those political parties who can not play their olden tricks of paper ballots - these EVM's are really look like DEVILS.... Poor guys....

Shiva Sena need to pay immediate attention to the case of a vegetable seller allegedly killed himself on Thursday after receiving an electric bill of nearly Rs. 8,58,000 (instead of Rs. 2,800/=) in the western state of Maharashtra. They blame computing error while feeding units. He appealed in vain, but now he is no more to see that they have rectified the clerk's error. No acche din for vegetable sellers, but just for politicians like Amith Shah and his son.

If the SHIV SENA allegations are true then the CEC should act. All over the world it is the ballot paper used for polling. We fail to understand why in India we are opting for EVMs when there is so much distrust and discomfort among the political parties and the electorate in the functioning of the EVMs. Our fundamental right is being rigged when a EVM malfunctions or is tampered. Our Election officers and majority of the electorate are not tech savvy and cannot identify when things go wrong. VVPATs credibility is also to be proved in this election.

In the past BJP's stalwart LK Advani, Subramanian Swamy had doubt and wrote book 'Democracy at risk'.But elections rallies in Karnataka from the same EVM PM Modi all of sudden found 'Energy, Value addition, Motivation'. Before the vote are yet casted PM Modi already started blaming Congress for doubts of EVM rigging.
Karnataka’s minister for information technology, biotechnology and tourism, Priyank Kharge, has written to the Election Commission requesting to conduct a hackathon challenge to test the machines for errors.
Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat had accepted of a mismatch between EVM votes with VVPAT slips in Gujarat points to ‘Salami Fraud’. There were mismatch between EVM and VVPAT slips on 4 out of 182 seats. so more than 2% mismatch. 2% vote share is questionable. that is 6 lakhs votes. Around 12-13 seats ‘were messed around with seats which made ministers win.’ “The Patels opposed them, OBCs opposed them, Dalits opposed them, traders opposed them, so who voted for them?
As per the microchip manufacturer, Microchip Inc, their products are open to hacking, tampering and cloning facing deposition in the US Court of Law.
It is impossible to get a paper receipt of any electronic transaction which varies from the software programmed. Small discrepancies, however small, is indicative of what came to be known in the West as “SALAMI FRAUD” existing within the software.
Gujarat, there were over 16 seats, where the victory margins were less than 3,000 votes. A vote transfer of even half a percent in a constituency of two lakh voters could result in a victory of a candidate who was originally trailing by 2000 votes. Such minimalistic vote transfer could go undetected because the winner could always use power to block any efforts for rigorous verifications.
An RTI activist in Mumbai has claimed considerable mismatch in numbers of EVMs .
Is Karnataka is next Gujarat with minimalistic EVM rigging to ensure hung assembly to keep Congress below 100 seats?

This is BJP's last solid bet. BJP has its paid technical experts do to the necessary things to BJP and oblige. Last time EC threw an open challenge but with conditions and limitations. This itself proves beyond doubt EC will join hands with BJP to rig EVMs.
