Bengaluru: After voter ID row, polling deferred in RR Nagar constituency to May 28

Bengaluru, May 11 (Agencies): The Election Commission (EC) on Friday postponed election in Bengaluru's Raja Rajeshwari (RR) Nagar assembly segment to May 28 from Saturday following recovery of nearly 10,000 voters ID cards from a flat in the constituency.

"To maintain the sanctity of the election process, the EC has ordered that the poll in this (RR Nagar) constituency be deferred to May 28 and counting will be held on May 31," said the Commission in a statement here.

The BJP had alleged that the apartment was linked to a lawmaker of the state's ruling Congress. The Congress hit back, accusing the BJP of enacting a "drama" of raiding an apartment owned by a local BJP leader and planting "fake evidence".

The Election Commission order said it was important to defer the election for the time being so that the "vitiating effect of the distribution of money and gift items to the electors loses its intensity" and the voter ID cards were returned to the electorals.

Generally a person’s qualification increases with the passing time but BJP’s CM candidate for Karnataka assembly elections BS Yeddyurappa’s educational qualifications have taken a considerable dip in the past few years.
BJP leader Yeddyurappa was College graduate in 2013, Class 12 pass in 2018.The 75-year-old BJP leader had shown a BA from Bangalore University as educational qualification during 2013 state assembly elections in Karnataka. However Yeddyurappa, who filed his nomination papers for the Shikaripura Assembly constituency in 2014, and again in 2018, has mentioned in his election affidavit that he has done a Pre-University Course (PUC) from Government College Mandya, Mysore University in the year 1960-61.
    1. Election Commission of India, Will you please explain to the nation who does your department does the verification process of the affidavit submitted contestant?
    2. How does former CM Yeddyurappa is still eligible to contest with his fake degrees as per the People's Representative Act?

This a very good game played by BJP. It is understood that someone of BJP took advantage and of the situation placed it in a Congress man owned apartment to defame Congress.
Don't worry that person who kept is has been identified, truth will come out.

Deferring poll was the idea behind creating this fake drama of ID row by BJP and now EC has obliged BJP. EC was very prudent and quick in arresting a ordinary citizen on liquor charges who was having a nuptials party for his daughter who had no connection with election matters. EC is digging where it's soft. Double Standard.

Very true, the EC made life miserable for a Christian gentleman who had stored liquor for a wedding party at home which was a extremely genuine case. In case of Sriramulu in spite of proven case of corruption nothing is being done. Nothing but double standards.
