Bengaluru: Congress single largest party, says India Today-Axis exit poll, others predict tight race

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, May 12: Congress is set to become the single largest party in Karnataka, the India Today-Axis My India exit poll for Karnataka assembly revealed soon after polling ended on Saturday May 12.

According to the exit poll put out by India Today-Axis, Congress has a possibility of winning 106-118 seats.

The BJP is likely win 79 to 92 seats while JD(S) may get 22-30 seats, it said. Others may get anywhere between 1 and 4 seats.

The exit poll figures were arrived at after surveying 51,510 voters across the constituencies by 56 dedicated surveyors, India Today said.

The Congress is likely to have vote share of 39% while BJP's vote share may be 35%, and that of JD(S) 17%.

Indicating a tight race between the BJP and the Congress, most exit polls for the Karnataka Assembly elections today forecast a hung assembly with the JD(S) likely to play the kingmaker, but were divided on which of the two national parties will emerge as the largest in the House.

The exit polls run by Republic TV-Jan Ki Baat and ABP-C Voter predicted that the BJP will emerge as the largest party by getting 95-114 and 97-109 seats respectively.

They put the Congress' tally at 73-82 and 87-99 respectively with the former prime minister H D Deve Gowda-led JD (S) predicted to get 32-43 and 21-30 seats.

Voting for 222 of the 224 assembly seats in the state was held today. Any party will need the support of 113 MLAs to form a new government.

However, Times Now-VMR and India Today-Axis My India said the ruling Congress in the state will emerge as the largest party, forecasting 90-103 and 106-118 seats for the party. They predicted 80-93 and 79-82 seats for the BJP respectively.

If the India Today exit poll said that the Congress may get a majority, the Republic TV predicted that the saffron party may cross the half way mark.

Times Now put the likely tally of the JD(S) at 31-39 while India Today put its figure at 22-30.

News X predicted 102-110, 72-78 and 35-39 seats for the BJP, Congress and JD(S) respectively.

India Today predicted the vote share of the Congress and the BJP at 39 per cent and 35 per cent respectively. The respective prediction by Republic TV for the two parties was 36 and 38.25 per cent.

The channels were, however, revising the figures as more data was pouring in this evening.

The Congress had won 122 seats last time following a split in the BJP, which was reduced to 40 seats while the JD(S) also got 40 seats.

Both the BJP and the Congress ran a spirited campaign in the state with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the saffron charge with 21 rallies, while Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah led the Congress' bid to ensure that it defies anti-incumbency to retain power. The BJP has declared B S Yeddyurappa as its chief ministerial candidate.

Today Siddu gave a statement that he is ready to make way for a Dalith CM if High command asks him to pave way for a Dalith CM. Before elections he projected himself as the chief minister. This is smart of Siddu. He clearly knows that he is unlikely to become CM of Karnataka again as the numbers wont addup even for a simple majority and Devegowda by any stretch will not support a Congress with Siddu at the helm. So to show that he has corner for Daliths to keep his image and to help him in his future political life he has given a grand statement.

If we look at various TV channels and their reporters ... one can easily say which party they are representing. Each has to sell TV time to people; unless they create confusion, no one is watching them. INDIAN poll predictors have never reached that satisfactory level of predictions unlike the West. So why waste our time listing to some gossipers ... each one is talking about his own party's prospects; no one is giving out the truth. LET's honestly wait till the results are out; which ever party deserves to win, will carry forward the mantle. After all, it's people choice ... good or bad, they bear the brunt.

I think BJP may get clear majority because most of the exit polls taken voting survey till 3pm. Most of the congress traditional die hard supporters must have voted by this time which is already reflected in exit poll data. The voting after 3pm mostly BJP votes hence a one to two % swing will change the results in favour of BJP. Yhis time large number of youngsters and women voted coupled with high voting percentage give an edge to BJP.

EC must also ensure no EVMs get damaged or 'lost' en route to the counting centre. There are many ways of cheating which Feku party do not hesitate to use. EC officials are also human. 30+BJP

But surely there is EVM tampering on support of BJP. TV supporters of BJP are very well knew this fact and that is why they are mentioning BJP on on edge or over a half way mark.

Whole karnataka people are with Congress this time due to development and corruption free government. If BJP crossed half way mark, than all the winning candidates of Congress and JDS should resign immediately and let do re election thru ballet paper. will see actual mandate of peoples of our democratic India.

Simple logic says,Congress will win hands down.Reasons:

    1) BJP came to power on anti corruption wave, rather than Modi wave.Even if Advaniji was PM cadndidate, they would have won.
Now the same BJP has made corrupt person like Yeddy as CM candidate and openly taking help of most corrupt Reddy brothers.Shah wanted to keep distance from them but Modi openly endorsed them and shared stage with them, just like the Nirav Modi photo.
Now BJP can never claim to be a crusader of anti corruption, they have shown their true colours.
    Hence loss of votes.

    2) JDS - First they tried to hide the fact that JDS is B team of BJP.
Gowda even said they will never form coalition with BJP.Now the truth is out.People know that voting for JDS is like voting for BJP only.Even loyal supporters of JDS will think twice about voting for anti kannada, hindi imposing party.
    Hence loss of votes.

    3) Congress - Karnataka has attracted a lot of investment and jobs under Siddaramaiah,CM has clean image,no nonsense attitude and scam free.No ministers talking nonsense like Biplab Deb of Tripura.

Worthy mention - Anna Hazare - The fake anti corruption crusader is completely exposed. Not opening his mouth about BJP's choice of CM candidate of corrupt Yeddy. No protest or hunger strike against rape cases, law and order and Nirav Modi loot.Lokpal has become jokepal. This chuppa rustam had only one job - become fake Gandhi lookalike, fool people, destroy Congress in 2014.Job done, now retired.

I’m feeling Bantwal, mlore north, Moodbidri, Belthangady,Puttur, udupi are upperhand for BJP. It is Learnt from sources Moodbidri speciallly spoiled by MR Ivan Dsouza for congress. He silently tie up with indipendent candidate to defeat Mr Abaya. Kaup & mlore south only have 50-50 chances. Let’s wait on 15 may. Overall my prediction would be congress would get 100-105, BJP 85-90 , JDS 25-30.

There are several booth across the state already voters are complaining EVM is giving votes to BJP for any button pressed. Some booth even reported malfunction which is replaced with another unit by polling booth agent. But no one even know this replacement machines are checked before put in to service.
Now BJP Chief Minister candidate overconfident even before the voting is over raising doubts that this elections of Karnataka is like every assembly election is going to win BJP once again.

Thanks to EVM and ECI once BJP use to complain and wrote books about it is all started working for it.

4 exit poles for BJP, 3 for INC.
But all polls says vote share is more for BJP, which is very critical in terms of seat win. By going with vote share percentage it will be evident that BJP will get 110-118, Congress 81-93, Jds 31-38. Others 1-5.
Last election, BJP was split in 3 parties where as this time they joined together. Worry for Congress is it was leading before Rahul entry and BJP was lagging before Modi entry. Means Modi wave has done its magic whereas Rahul spoils chances as routine. Jds will definitely goes with BJP rather than Congress as they will get some position in Central to bargain with.
