Media Release

Boston, Sep 11:  Belle Parishioners residing in the USA celebrated the Feast of Nativity of Mother Mary on 6th September 2008 at the residence of Frederick Fernandes in Boston MA . Around 60 people especially from the East Coast (Boston, Philadelphia, Virginia, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey) gathered for this festival.

The celebration began at 4 PM with an introduction about the feast by Christopher Monis followed by children offering flowers to Mother Mary with the hymns “Sakkad Sangata Melya” and “Moriyek Hogolsiya” in Konkanni. It was a memorable event where all the children assembled to offer flowers to Mother Mary with devotion. The Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Syril Doss, a SVD priest from India. During the mass, Fr. Doss highlighted the role of a Mother in everyone’s life. He spoke about God’s choice of Virgin Mary to be the Mother of Jesus and her role in the Holy Family. He also conducted a healing session during the mass and prayed for the sick. “Nothing is impossible when you have faith” is the buzzword of his homily and he called upon all people to live a life of holiness following the footsteps of Mother Mary.

During the mass, freshly grown corn was blessed and distributed to all the families gathered symbolizing the new harvest. After the mass, Bellevision USA was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Fr. Syril Doss and by the Belle Parishioners in USA.

The mass was followed by a sumptuous dinner laid out by Stany Ferrao and Veronica Fernandes, games, Konkani music and dance.

History is created in Boston, MA (United States) where Belle Parishioners have decided to come under one umbrella under the banner of Bellevision USA with a motto to getting to know each other, actively help and support fellow Belle Parishioners living in the United States in their hour of need and also to support various development projects of the Belle Parish.
