Army forces militants to retreat to Pakistan

Srinagar, May 24 (IANS): The Army on Thursday opened fire at a group of militants on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, forcing them to retreat to Pakistan, police said.

Soldiers noticed suspicious movements on the LoC in Gogledara area of Keran sector early in the morning.

"The group of infiltrating militants was challenged after which an encounter started. The militants were finally forced to retreat to the Pakistani side," a police officer said.

The winding LoC divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
