Chicago, May 27: Usually naming a street sign is posthumous. Here a Mangalurean activist and humanitarian received a street sign honour as, “Honorary Dr Austin Prabhu Way” in Forest Park on Saturday, May 26. This is the first time such thing has happened to an India-born leader in the United States.

It was a memorable day for the Mayor, Village Council and Citizens of Forest Park. Mayor Antony Calderone read the proclamation naming the part of Dunlop Avenue in Forest Park to a dedicated humanitarian Dr Austin Prabhu. It was live telecasted on TV Asia by Vandana Jhingal. Mayor appreciated Dr Austin’s challenging work and humanitarian spirit and explained the crowd why he deserves this street sign to remember Dr Austin forever.

Dr Austin thanked his family and those who helped him to reach his successes in life. He said, “Let us make our religion ‘Love and Share.’ When we love our neighbours and our community and share their needs whatever way we can, spirit of giving uplifts humanity. If all of us in this world do the same, this world will become a better place to live for tomorrow,”

Some of Dr Austin’s family members and friends joined in this celebration and congratulated him for this great achievement.
