Doddaballapur: Kannada TV anchor Chandan's wife kills son, commits suicide

Doddaballapur, Jun1: Barely eight days after Kannada TV host, Chandan (34) alias Chandrashekhar, died in a road accident near Davanagere along with a singer who was also travelling with him, his wife Veena, who was reportedly depressed since her husband met tragic death, killed her son, Tushar (13),by slitting his throat on Thursday May 31 morning. Veena (38) also attempted suicide by consuming acid and was admitted into NIMHANS hospital here. 

Veena who was critical did not recover and died on late Thursday. 

Chandan, a popular TV host with considerable fan following, was known for his unique style. He had died when travelling from Bengaluru to Davanagere on national highway when his car met with an accident near Hanagawadi bridge, after it collided with a truck.

It is said that Veena had slipped into depression since the untimely death of her husband. It is also gathered that Veena, in spite of her best efforts, was unable to reconcile with the thought of having to live without the company of her husband. The family thereafter decided to donate both eyes of Tushar to a hospital. Abhisheka Netralaya staff collected them.

Chandan and a singer named Santoshi (24) had died on the spot while two others had suffered grievous injuries in the said accident.

    Family should have supported her. But current society everybody is in to their own Compaq family... not bothered about others. but very sad to see a mother going to the extreme of killing her own son. any ways, hope almighty join the family in heaven and rest them eternal peace.

    How could a mother slit the throat of her own son, this lady became mentally sick.
    At this juncture of time, the family members should not have left mother-son alone.
    The lady desperately needed consolation & divert of mind.
