Mangaluru: Another train to Thiruvananthapuram - railways continue to ignore Karnataka

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jun 7: Southern Railway, which always has one reason or the other to deny legitimate demands of Karnataka coast, has continued with its discriminatory treatment as evidenced by the fact it will be introducing a new train between Mangaluru Junction Railway Station in the city to Thiruvananthapuram from June 9 onward.

This is in addition to four trains already running between these two destinations. Commuters from Karnataka say that it is obvious that the railways has been bending under pressure of Kerala lobby as usual, to the detriment of Karnataka. Minister of state for railways, Rajen Gohain, will be flagging off the 'Antyodaya Express (16355/356)' at Mangaluru Junction Railway Station here on June 9.

The railway commuters from Karnataka coast have decided to protest against this discrimination by tweeting to the Prime Minister and railway ministry to meet demands of the people of Karnataka like separate division for Mangaluru, neglecting even minor demands of the people here and non-introduction of any new train since the last several years, with Mangaluru Railway Zone hashtag. Anil Hegde, technical advisor to West Coast Railway Commuters Development Committee says that the problem of partisan attitude towards Kerala can be addressed only if Mangaluru is made a separate division or this is brought under Mysuru division.

While the people of the state feel that adding the fifth train on Thiruvananthapuram train is unjustified, an official of railways says that there is pressure of passengers. Demands of Karnataka passengers like resumption of Mangaluru - Miraj express train via Hubballi that had been suspended in 1994 on the pretext of upgradation work of tracks, demand for additional train on Kannur-Mangaluru- Bengaluru and Karwar-Mangaluru-Bengaluru route where passenger traffic is high, trains to Rameshwaram, Vijayapura, Kanyakumari, Ahmadabad and other places from the city, etc are pending whereas demands of Kerala state are promptly met, complain a few people. The railway department is not even prepared to extend the Gomateshwara Express train running between the city and Bengaluru via Shravanabelagola up to central station citing lack of platforms.

Some opine that this is happening because the city comes under Palakkad railway division. Therefore, they plead for creating a new division and want the people to fight for it to protect their rights and also to get their genuine demands heard and met.

We Do not need new train.
I hardly see people using train, except (Mangalore-Mumbai )
We believe in saving time and being on time. which Railways never follow.
that is reason most of the train are empty.
Only when people start using the facility we can expect more.

Truthfully this should be a front page news in all the newspapes published from Karnataka to create
public awareness. Local newspapers and TV stations must run a people,s campaign. Local MPs and MLAs should be confronted with hard hitting questions about their incapacity to provide justice to
the coastal region be it the matter of station infrastructure, provision of adequate trains or Kannada/ Tulu speaking staff. Unless a momentum is built up and sustained till achieving the goal, we shall continue to suffer.

Mangalore Central station is just for
    1. Washing trains which gets dirty after traveling across Kerala and TN.
    2. Parking after last stop
    3. Repairing coaches
    4. Pollute Mangalore soil with oil and greese mixed water
Mangalorean don't even have proper fast train to Bangalore despite of large number of crowd commuting between these two cities. Even Bangalore train looks like made for Kannur people.

There should be some protest like burning the train(sorry to say) , stopping the trains etc, so that the local demands are heard by the railways. Local Mangalureans travel towards east & north and hence for them train towards south is not important. The phalgat railway division is actually breathing under the railway revenue generated by Mangaluru port section,.

for everything dont link with religion it will not be fair to blame MP instead think about what common man do for the solution. Of course none of the MP has done till today for the railway and other thing for the karnataka. thats why karnataka is very far away behind in railway network compare to even small states.
General public can strongly demand and follow the things.

There are 2 religions in this world
    1. Dharm - Good thing
    2.Adharm - Bad thing

If person understand this better he will not do religion politics instead think about development.

Neither Kharge nor Jaffer Sharief did anything for coastal Karnataka. At this present stage we should have had ministers like George Fernandes, T.A. Pai and Madhu Dandawathe. Unfortunately these prominent personalities served as railway ministers at a time when railways were in the stage of construction and extension towards unexplored, remote parts of the country.

Smiling DVS Gowda had the golden opportunity and the power to create a separate division for Mangalore and introduce more north bound trains from the city. But he too succumbed to Mallu pressure. To appease them further he introduced that useless, now defunct, Byndoor – Kasaragod train. This train would have brought more revenue had it been operated from Goa to Mysore via Mangalore - Puttur since both places are tourist destinations.

    Read this,

Agenda for Kerala before the LS 2019.
Kateel has been entrusted with Thiruvananthapuram, Attingal, Kollam, Mavelikara, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta. He has held review meetings with local leaders in each of these constituencies....

So now we know why a fast Train is introduced.

Step Motherly treatment by Palakkad division :

Ful fill only 2 requirements and Thokkot will becom the 3rd highest money grossing station of Mangalore.

    1) All the Local and Express Trains passing through Thokkot should stop here as Thokkot is the Transportation Hub of ULLAL NAGARASABHE( Same like Udupi Nagarasabhe)

2)The access Road Link should be provided from the Eastern side of the Railway Station which IS JUST 100 meters from NH66 and will connect NH66 between Kallapu and Thokkot which is the Transportation Hub for Entire Mangalore which is South of Nethravathi River.

.The Ullal Railway station is like Ootakillada uppinakayi because of its remote location and is useless/loss if developed.
