Bengaluru, Jun 8: Two days after 25 ministers of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government were sworn-in, the H D Kumaraswamy-led government on Friday June 8 finalised the portfolio distribution, with the chief minister himself retaining a bulk of the ministeries.
Kumaraswamy will be heading as many as 11 departments, including finance, excise, information and public relations, the coveted energy portfolio, infrastructure, intelligence, textiles, planning and statistics, and any other department/board and corportion that is not specifically allocated.
Deputy chief minister Dr G Parameshwar will be the home minister, a post he headed during the previous government's regime too until he took over as KPCC president. He will also head the Bengaluru development department.
R V Deshpande has been given the revenue ministry as well as the skill development department.
D K Shivakumar has been given two portfolios - medical education and water resources.
Senior JD(S) leader H D Revanna has been given the PWD department while his party colleague G T Devegowda has got higher education ministry.
K J George will head large industries department and IT-BT, while Krishna Byregowda will be the minister of rural development and panchayat raj, as well as law and parliamentary affairs.
MLC Jayamala has been given the charge of the woman and child development, empowerment of differently-abled and senior citizens, and Kannada and culture department.
U T Khader from Mangaluru has been given two portfolios - housing, and city corporations including BBMP and subjects pertaining to Bengaluru city, urban development authorities, KUIDFC and urban development department.
Zameer Ahmed Khan has been given food and civil supplies and consumer affairs department, and also minority welfare and Wakf.
Shivashankar Reddy has been made agricultural minister, and Managuli has been given horticulture. Bandeppa Kashampur has got cooperation department.
The health ministry has been given to Shivanand Patil while social welfare department has gone to Priyank Kharge. The backward classes welfare department will be headed by C Puttarangashetty.
N Mahesh will head the primary and secondary education ministry while C S Puttaraju has got minor irrigation portfolio, and Gubbi Srinivas has got small industries.
Venkatrao Nadagouda will be the minister of animal husbandry and fisheries, while Venkataramanappa will be the labour minister.
Rajshekar Patil has been given two porfolios - mines and geology, and muzrai (religious endowment).
Sa Ra Ramesh has been made minister of tourism and also sericulture, while D C Thammanna has got transport department.
Ramesh Jarkiholi too has been given two portfolios - municipalities and local bodies, and ports and inland transport. Sources said that he will also head the sports and youth services department.
R Shankar, the lone minister from Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janatha Party (KPJP) has been given forest, ecology and environment ministry.
