Hassan, Jun 10: A married man and a woman allegedly committed suicide by immolating themselves and a Hyundai i10 car they were in, late night on Friday, June 9 at the foothills of Mallikarjuna Swamy hill, Pushpagiri of Halebeedu taluk near here.

The deceased have been identified as Girish (35), a resident of Samudravalli of Aloor taluk in Hassan district and Sandhya (25), a resident of Palli village in Karkala taluk of Udupi district.

Girish was married and had two sons. He had a bakery business in Palli village of Karkala. Opposite to his bakery was the jewellery shop owned by the husband of Sandhya. The love that started from this link turned into an illicit relationship and ended in the tragic death of the duo.

Halebeedu police who rushed to the spot on hearing the news of the car on fire along with the fire service personnel. However, by the time they could reach the spot, both Girish and Sandhya were burnt alive. As there are no houses in the vicinity of the spot of the incident no one got a clue of this happening. Some passers-by who saw the car on fire intimated the same to the police, said sub-inspector Vijaykrishna.

Sandhya too is married and has a son. As she was missing from Friday, June 9, her husband Shankarprasad went to Karkala police station on Saturday, June 10 to register a complaint. However, as he got the news of the burning car and the death of his wife while he was on his way to the police station, he did not file a formal complaint.

Planned suicide

The marriage of one of Girish's friend had taken place a year ago on the Pushpagiri hills of Halebeedu a year ago. As Girish had attended the function, he was familiar with the spot. That is why Girish went to this spot with Sandhya on Friday with the intention of committing suicide. He had called his friend and asked the closing time of the temple on Pushpagiri hills also.

Police suspect murder of Sandhya

Police suspect that Girish might have strangulated Sandhya in a premeditated decision and then might have killed himself by putting fire to the car. Though the police got the initial information that a car is on fire, by the time they reached the spot they saw the car, the engine of which is also charred along with the number plate. There were many doubts with regard to the incident. Forensic experts were called immediately from Mysuru and the engine number of the car was traced. Because of this, the identity of the dead persons could be established as per the details given by the sub-inspector of Halebeedu police station.

Charred car belonged to Girish

The i10 car which was burnt totally belonged to Girish. Hassan police, who traced the owner of the car by identifying the chasis number, relayed the information to Karkala police station. Girish, who was a native of Hassan was doing bakery business in Karkala since five years.

Rahul Kumar Shahapurwad, SP of Hassan district, Sadanand Tippanavar, DySP of Arasikere, Yogish, circle inspector of Belur and K S Lingesh, MLA visited the spot and collected the details. As per the information received by the police, DySP Tippanavar has formed three teams for the investigation and have sent them to Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Mangaluru to gather the information.

May be the two persons are not Girish and sandhya but some other people murdered and put in car and burnt so that they can live happily with new identity in a new place, watch crime patrol so many cases happened earlier.
or Husband arranged for their murder by burning so no evidence remains.
