Bantwal, Jun 10: Former district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai has sought divine intervention to clear his name in the murder of RSS activist Sharath Madivala.
Sharath's father Taniyappa Madivala, a resident of Sajipa, had accused Ramanath Rai and his supporters of being involved in the murder..
Rai, upset over this allegation paid a visit to the famous Shree Nalvar Daivasthana of Kanathoor in Kerala and appealed to the prominent persons of the Daivasthana: "For no reason, my name is being dragged and defamed in this murder case. False propaganda is being made in my name. I am extremely upset due to this baseless allegation.
"If I have done any wrong I should deserve punishment. The people who have made baseless allegations against me have to be summoned and inquiry has to be conducted," he said.
When questioned by the scribes as to the details of his appeal for divine of intervention, Ramanath Rai said, "What I have prayed with the lord is personal. I will not divulge this in public."
Chandraprakash Shetty and B Padmashekar Jain, members of zilla panchayat, Baby Kunder, vice-president of DCC and K Mayilappa Salian were present on this occasion with Ramanath Rai.
