Hundreds at funeral of J&K policeman killed by militants

Srinagar, Jun 12 (IANS): Hundreds of locals in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Tuesday attended the funeral of a policeman killed by militants in Pulwama.

Hundreds of men, women and children came out to attend the funeral of constable, Ghulam Hassan Wagay, in his ancestral Wohlutra village of Rafiabad area in Baramulla where he was buried.

Wagay and another policeman were killed in Pulwama by militants, who also took away the service rifles of the two slain policemen.

The attack occurred during the holiest Muslim night of 'Shab-e-Qadra' when Muslims the world over engage in prayers seeking penance for their sins.

The attack has been widely condemned and the turning out of people in such large numbers to mourn the death of the policeman stands out as proof of the public response to it.
